  1. Kilmarnock out to cap memorable yearpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Kilmarnock v St Mirren (15:00)

Is 2018 the best year in Kilmarnock's history since their title triumph in 1965?

Yes, there were cup wins in 1997 and 2011, but the last 12 months have been just incredible in terms of consistency in the league.

Under the exacting guidance of manager Steve Clarke, the Rugby Park club moved off the bottom of the table to collect their highest ever points tally in the top flight. That form has continued into this season, with just four defeats from 20 league games and a win today would leave them just one point off top spot.

  2. Plenty at stake in Tayside derbypublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Dundee v St Johnstone (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith

It may not capture the headlines like the Old Firm and Edinburgh derbies, but the Tayside derby is usually pretty tasty too.

Dundee and St Johnstone are desperate to end 2018 on a high, and for very different reasons.

The Dark Blues know a win today, coupled with a St Mirren defeat at Kilmarnock, would lift them off the bottom of the table.

But the Perth Saints have plenty of incentive too – a victory for them would ensure they start 2019 in the top half of the table.

The form book going in to this one makes intriguing reading – St Johnstone head to the City of Discovery chasing their sixth straight away win, however it should also be noted today’s hosts are at unbeaten at home in four games.

  4. Draining December for the Donspublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Livingston v Aberdeen (15:00)

    Jonathan Sutherland
BBC Sport Scotland at the Tony Macaroni Arena

December has been a test of endurance for Aberdeen. This will be their ninth match of the month and they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal against the Lions of Livingston who have been positively rampant since returning to the Premiership.

Only St Johnstone have got the better of Livingston on their much maligned home turf. Rangers were beaten, Celtic could only manage a 0-0 draw.

There is also the element of revenge - Aberdeen were 3-2 winners over Livingston just a few weeks back at Pittodrie. That will still be very fresh in the minds of everyone involved with the home side this afternoon.

    Scottish Championship

It's derby day in the Championship too, with leaders Ross County hosting Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who will be hoping to narrow a 10-point gap.

Ayr United, a point behind with a game in hand, will be looking for revenge for a 5-0 hammering the last time they visited Queen of the South.

Third-top Dundee United will hope to take advantage of any slips at the top as they visit part-timers Alloa Athletic, who have surprised many by not being at the bottom at this stage.

Falkirk host Dunfermline Athletic in a normally stormy rivalry with both sides finding themselves near the wrong end of the table.

It's becoming a two, perhaps three horse-race for the League Two title and leaders Edinburgh City will fancy their chances away to struggling Berwick Rangers.

Peterhead, five points behind but with a game in hand, are away to fourth-top Elgin City.

Clyde, clinging on to title hopes five points behind the Blue Toon, host Queen's Park.

    Quote Message

It's a monumental performance from Rangers, easily their best under Steven Gerrard. From minute one, the desire and hunger, they wanted it more. They treated it like an Old Firm game while Celtic thought they could turn up and put in an average performance - and Rangers dominated the game

  16. FULL-TIME - Rangers 1-0 Celticpublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

Rangers move level with visitors Celtic at the top of the Premiership thanks to Ryan Jack's fine first-half strike.

Celtic have a game in hand, but ending a 12-game run without a win over their city rivals suggests we really do have a title race on our hands.

Steven Gerrard's side thoroughly deserve their win on the back of a high-tempo display that knocked Brendan Rodgers' reigning champions out of their stride.

No chance to catch your breath though after that thriller as we have the rest of today's fixtures to come.
