Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Chris Hughton: "As good as we were in the first half, that’s how bad we were in the second half.

"I thought we had chances to extend our lead – even at 2-1 – but as soon as they make it 2-2 life becomes very difficult for us.

"They can be a handful in that final third if you allow them that space and time that we did.

"It’s a shame that after such a good first-half performance, we couldn’t continue like that in the second half."

Fulham

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri: "I did not imagine this. It was great to score in the second half, and the reaction was unbelievable.

"I watched a very good fighting spirit. They want to survive.

"Mitrovic is a goalscorer. He plays this way, covers the ball, fights for every ball and gives spirit to everybody.

"It’s a little step but we are alive, which is very important. We know nothing is done, but we are a little more confident that something could happen."

Manchester City

Manchester City Pep Guardiola: "It was not our best night, we didn't make a good performance. We didn't take the rhythm of the game, it was slow and we weren't aggressive enough. They didn't do too much, two shots on target but it was not a good performance.

"Sometimes scoring so early helps, sometimes it's not so good. It didn't help us play today. The referee said don't take the free-kick it until I give permission so I don't know [about the disallowed goal], it isn't why we did not win.

"The game was not good. We did not defend the second ball well, we have to improve.

"We had a chance today to reduce the lead. Tomorrow is a game for our opponent. When you are behind you have to win games and we couldn't do that.

"I know the challenge is big, being in all competitions is what it is. If you want to go up as a club you have to accept that challenge. I prefer to be in that position."

Manchester United

Man Utd midfielder Nemanja Matic: "I think it is two points lost, we expect more from this game. We wanted to win, but after 2-0 down we have to be happy with one point.

"But we should play better, we have to play better, see where we made mistakes, to improve and play like we have in last seven or eight games.

"But this is the Premier League, every team has quality and will punish you if you miss chances, exactly what Burnley did today.

"We have to do much better, the mentality needs to be much better than the first 75 minutes. So we have look into the mirror to see where we made mistakes, to improve as a team then we will be happy again.

"But I have to repeat - today was not good enough."

Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BT Sport: "It wasn't our best. We start with a goal but in the game we didn't have the rhythm to impose our game. The second balls and long balls we didn't take it. We had the chances but when this happens everything is open. Congratulations to Newcastle."

On the title race: "It is difficult. We have a chance to do it but we need to win our games. The advantage is not there but we need to continue. We have to do our games and know what we have to do. You can lose. Football is competitive."

Fulham

Fulham goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic: "After a really bad first half we came back to score four goals and played an unbelievable second half.

"The manager just told us to keep going, we have nothing to lose and need to keep believing. We just tried to give our best 45 minutes and give everything we can. It was an unbelievable night and a big step forward.

"Today I scored two goals. The hard work I put in every day - and the hard work we all put in every day - paid off. I need to keep working hard, and as a team we need to keep working hard as well."

Man Utd interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BBC Sport. “The comeback was brilliant, the players have been asked about how they would react if they went 1-0 or 2-0 down so I felt the comeback was fantastic.

“We had loads of chances, loads of possession, we didn’t deserve to lose. But we did it to ourselves really.

“We fought, that wasn’t the problem. We were just too slow in possession in the first half.

“For the first goal we played our way into trouble. It wasn’t the attitude, the application was too slow and the tempo on the ball wasn’t good enough. But the reaction was good.

“We disappointed ourselves and we disappointed the crowd today, but the ones who stayed had a typical Old Trafford finish to the game so that was a big plus.”

Arsenal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery told Match of the Day: "We are happy. In the first half we didn't deserve to go in winning and in the second half we played better, controlled the match better and created more chances.

"We started well in the first 10 minutes then I was not surprised with the performance as Cardiff worked very well.

"We struggled a lot in the match but it's very important to get the three points. We know each match is difficult and we are happy - the difference is small details."

Pep Guardiola says that "many things can happen" in football but won't be drawn on the title race after tonight.

Burnley are 15th now - four points clear of Cardiff and the relegation places.

Burnley

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton: "It’s a tough one to swallow. We were running on empty at the end. Obviously it’s a little sore right now but going forward it’s an excellent point for us.

"They have been on a great run but we just focused on ourselves, kept our shape right, restricted them, had no fear and I think we approached it well.

"They are obviously going to come at you, we defended fantastically for most of it and we will take a lot of positives from today. A point at Old Trafford in the form they are in is a good one.

"We feel like we have turned the corner a little but it’s important we take that momentum forward.

“It’s not going to be straight forward between now and the end of the season but we embrace that challenge, starting with Southampton on Saturday."

The injury to Marko Arnautovic didn't look too clever. I'll let you know if we hear any more on that one.

West Ham United

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BBC Sport:

"Maybe we are paying the cost of having so many injured players that we cannot alter our starting XI.

"In the first half it was very tight half but after that I don’t understand what happened. It is difficult to find a reason for why we played so badly.

"These things can happen, there can be a lot of reasons but when you lose I don’t like to find excuses we must become a competitive team as we were three weeks ago."

Newcastle United

Rafa Benitez speaking to Match of the Day: "It feels really good. We didn't just win, we won against a very good team. Everyone wanted to see how long we could defend without conceding but we did within the first minute but everyone reacted well.

"We tried to counter-attack and score when we could. I am really pleased with the players and the fans behind the team. To get three points this way... The players played for the shirt, the fans and for everyone. They give everything every game and the fans appreciate that. They work very hard so it's important they carry on doing the same.

"The goal we conceded was not in the plan! But we tried to stick with the plan and continue until the end. Matt Ritchie enjoys taking penalties. In training he is quite good so we were confident. He did well.

"The main thing is to stick together and we did it. People weren't expecting a win against Man City but everyone was thinking of what they had to do for the team. Everyone should be pleased."

On transfers: "I knew before the game we were doing some business so hopefully we can finish everything tomorrow and have some good news. We are working on some things.

"It is a long distance race so we have to carry on. We are a little bit better now than what we were before the game but we have to carry on."

Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche to BBC Sport: "It was an excellent performance; we know they are in fine form.

"We were resilient, we are getting harder and harder to beat, and we can score goals as well.

"The bravery is coming back to the team. Fantastic credit to the players, a firm draw.

"Our performances lately have picked up, their will, desire and mentality is growing all the time.

"I don’t know where the five minutes of stoppage-time came from. That’s a bugbear because it gave the crowd a lift. I also think Lindelof is offside when Alexis Sanchez heads it, but like I say the margins are tight."

Huddersfield Town

New Huddersfield manager Jan Siewert said he was "disappointed but proud".

He told BBC Sport: "We couldn’t have had a worse start but after that we had many possibilities for chances. I thought the lads came back. They tried to push forward. I’m proud of them.

"Aaron Mooy is an important player. It takes time after injury. I’m very glad he’s back in the team.

"Now I know why Jordan Pickford is England's number one. Unlucky for us. It was a fantastic atmosphere. They were pushing the lads forward. Unlucky we couldn’t give them a goal.

"The most important thing is we create chances and the goals will come. The lads got my ideas and we had chances."

He added: "We shouldn’t find excuses. We need to focus. It’s a process which has started. I saw many things I implemented in training. We had several very positive moments and we need to focus on them has."

West Ham were lucky to get nil tonight. That could have been a total hammering.

"The first half was a very tight game for both teams but in the second half I think we were absolutely out of the game. We conceded two from set pieces and had no chances of our own

"If in 90 minutes you don’t create one clear chance you must be very frustrated, maybe you can be not very creative but defend very well, but we defended poorly as well.

"We must know why we are playing so bad in the last two weeks after beating arsenal,

"Lukasz Fabianski played very well. He made two or three saves that were clear options for Wolves to score also."
