Happy nights for a few north west folk, as Paul Scholes' new era at Oldham kicked off in thumping fashion and Bolton swiped some precious points at Birmingham. Not to mention the west country too where Bristol City popped up with a late winner against QPR. Nine on the spin.

Tougher night for those in the midlands, especially those of a Nottingham Forest persuasion who were denied the sweet taste of victory by West Brom's leveller.

Plenty to sleep on across the EFL, put it that way.

The good news is we're back again tomorrow for even more EFL action. Why not join us?

    Until then. Good night.

They're not in action until tomorrow but Norwich and Leeds will be pleased with West Brom failing to beat Nottingham Forest.

The continuation of Bristol City's miraculous run lifts them to fifth - just a point behind the Baggies, who salvaged a dramatic late draw at home to Forest.

Martin O'Neill's side and Birmingham are now five points from the last play-off spot after dropping points tonight.

The bottom six remain in the same order but what a massive win for Bolton, who are now just two points from safety.

Draws for Rotherham and Millwall give them a bit of breathing room, but it looks like the final two relegation places will be fought out between five teams.

    West Brom 2-2 Nott'm Forest

    West BromImage source, Rex Features

There are Forest players with their hands on their knees in a sense of deflation after their lead was snatched away in the final minute of normal time.

Forest had twice led, first from Stefan Johansen's own-goal and then when Jacob Murphy smashed in an equaliser, Ryan Yates cracked one off the post to restore the advantage.

Jay Rodriguez's penalty, after a controversial call from Lee Mason, brought parity and a share of the spoils.

Tough on Forest, Baggies will be delighted.

    West Brom 2-2 Nott'm Forest

Joe Lolley might have had a spot-kick for Nottingham Forest just moments after the West Brom pen but Lee Mason doesn't deem the shirt tug to be sufficient.

Forest will be devastated at the manner of that leveller. But they're still chugging away trying to get a third, and go in front again.

Over the three allotted minutes of injury time now...

    Jay Rodriguez (90 mins)

Oooh that was a bit soft wasn't it? Dwight Gayle tumbles in the box under a feather of a challenge from the Forest defence, and Lee Mason points to the spot.

West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez doesn't get involved in any controversy, just bangs in the penalty.

Level pegging right at the death. How Forest will rue that. Big goal for the Baggies.

    West Brom 1-2 Nott'm Forest

It's a bit of cliche but it's like the Alamo on the edge of the Forest box. Under siege at the present.

Forest doing enough to keep clipping it clear as West Brom swarm, Gareth Barry slapping the ball over the top when well-placed.

Time ticking down. Three minutes of normal time to go.

It's three key points in the bid to avoid relegation, though they remain in the bottom three.

    Birmingham 0-1 Bolton

MY WORD THAT'S A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE SAVE FROM REMI MATTHEWS!

Che Adams got in behind on the left of the box, the chance was there, the headlines waiting to be written... but Matthews turned it away for a corner.

It comes to nothing. That might be the game. Bolton to cling on.

Loud boos greet the Millwall players at the final whistle at The Den - they still haven't scored at home in 2019.

For Sheffield Wednesday it's an eighth clean sheet in 12 games.

    Maybe we should've predicted a 0-0...

    Any more drama?

    Birmingham 0-1 Bolton

Into an extensive period of injury time at St Andrews, as Birmingham have their final rolls of the die to see if they can pinch a point.

They just can't make the ball stick, and it's all hands to the pump for Bolton. Can they hold on?

Just moments after QPR were denied one at the other end.

    Diedhiou to take... eventually.
