  • Blades retake second place from Leeds, who edged past Bolton earlier on Saturday

  • Championship leaders Norwich saw off play-off contenders Bristol City

  1. goal

GOAL: Brentford 4-1 Hull Citypublished at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Neal Maupay (52 mins)

Neal Maupay's 22nd goal of the season.

He won't get many simpler ones either. The striker scores from close range after substitute Hull keeper George Long had saved a shot by Ollie Watkins, who had the presence of mind to tee up Maupay from the rebound.

  2. Postpublished at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Norwich City 1-2 Bristol City

Bristol City are definitely trying to clip the Canaries' wings - Famara Diedhiou and Jamie Paterson have both had shots blocked inside the opening 60 seconds.

A win for the Robins would cement their place in the play-off spots.

  3. Walsall turn it aroundpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    League One latest

Some comeback by Walsall in League One this. They have lost five in a row, were down to 10 men and trailing their fellow strugglers Bradford City 1-0.

But the Saddlers are now 2-1 ahead, Josh Gordon's strike had put them level at the break and just after the restart Joe Edwards has nodded home.

  4. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-1 Blackburnpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Charlie Mulgrew (52 mins)

Charlie Mulgrew is credited with Blackburn's equaliser at Birmingham but nobody's quite sure if anyone got a final touch to his corner.

If it's gone straight in, it's certainly not the first time that's happened this season!

Rovers won't care a jot who scored - their losing run might be about to be halted...

Footballer, fashion icon, fine pundit, property expert and presenter, music maestro...the list goes on.

Dion Dublin is on Final Score this afternoon. As is Kevin Kilbane.

But although the latter is also a quality pundit and one of the Republic of Ireland's most capped players, he doesn't also present Homes Under the Hammer so doesn't get the same write-up. Sorry.

As well as following today's English Football League action via this live text feed, you can also watch those two on our Final Score programme.

The show is now under way on the Red Button and you can tune in by pressing the play icon at the top of this page.

Stuart Dagger: I've just read someone saying typical Millwall, beat one of the best teams in the league and then get beat by one of the worst. Firstly, they beat a team that's on a major wobble and secondly get beat by a team that not only have an eight-game unbeaten run, but one of the most in-form teams in the division. A bit of respect wouldn't go a miss for Alex Neil's and the Preston team's work ethic.

Preston will be up to 10th if the scores stay like this.

  10. League Two half-time headlinespublished at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    sol CampbellImage source, Rex Features
    • Leaders Lincoln are heading five points clear, the Imps leading 1-0 against struggling Morecambe while Bury in second are losing to Oldham.
    • Sol Campbell's Macclesfield have a 1-0 advantage against Crawley, but Yeovil are set to stop them climbing out of the drop zone. The Glovers are looking to end a six-game losing streak and are leading Cambridge 1-0.
    • Exeter may get into the play-off spots with a win and they are 1-0 ahead against Crewe.
  11. Coming up this eveningpublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

West Brom v Sheff Utd (17:30 GMT)

How we spoil you? Two of the top four face each other at The Hawthorns a bit later.

And there's a chance one of them could be top of the pile, if results go their way, come the end of tonight's action.

Sheffield United have lost just once in 11 Championship games. The chirping about their promotion challenge inevitably falling away because of a relatively small squad and a lack of experience is looking a bit rash at the moment. Unity and spirit, and more than a little quality, is going a long way. The goals of Billy Sharp help too.

West Brom are just a point behind the Blades and have won three in four. The Baggies have scored more league goals than any team in the division before the latest round of matches. A whopping 67 in 33 games. Even my maths quickly concludes that's more than two a game.

It bodes well, as my maths teacher used to say after some steady classwork before I made a pig's ear of the exam.

  12. League One headlinespublished at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Luke O'NienImage source, Rex Features
    • Sunderland lead 1-0 at Bristol Rovers with a Luke O'Nien goal at the Memorial Stadium.
    • Second-placed Barnsley are goalless with Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
    • Walsall are down to 10 men following Andy Cook's early dismissal, but Josh Gordon has pulled them level just before the break against Bradford.
    • Shrewsbury look set for a first win in 10 League One matches - the Shropshire side lead 2-1 at 10-man Peterborough.
  13. Championship headlinespublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Callum O'DowdaImage source, Rex Features
    • Leaders Norwich City trail 2-1 at home to in-form Bristol City - the Canaries had levelled through Kenny McLean, but Callum O'Dowda restored Lee Johnson's side's advantage less than a minute later.
    • Leeds United have also been pegged back - Patrick Bamford's penalty had put them top of the table, but seven minutes later they were back to second place when Mark Beevers equalised from close range for Bolton.
    • Preston and Sheffield Wednesday are both flying - they both lead 3-0 - North End are three up at Millwall while Wednesday are dominating Swansea City.
    • Could Ipswich Town be getting just their fourth win of the season? The bottom side lead fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic 1-0, despite being down to 10 men.
  14. goal

GOAL: Brentford 3-1 Hullpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Said Benrahma (43 mins)

Said Benrahma has poked in his second of the game and the Bees, who trailed 1-0 are 3-1 to the good at Griffin Park.

  15. goal

GOAL: Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 Swanseapublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Steven Fletcher (42 mins)

Sheffield Wednesday are in total control. Tom Lees did superbly well in the build up and Steven Fletcher's acrobatic left-footed strike finds the bottom corner.

Adam Reach's double had put the Owls 2-0. Now the game looks done and dusted.

  16. League One latestpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

Could a first win in 10 League One matches be on the cards for Shrewsbury?

it would be a huge shock but they lead 2-1 against Peterborough, who have also had striker Ivan Toney sent off.

Posh could go into the play-off spots tonight with a win.

  17. League One latestpublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

Sunderland are looking good to close the gap on the top two.

Remember, the leaders Luton are not playing until tomorrow and Barnsley, in second, are drawing 0-0 with Portsmouth.

The Black Cats look set to take advantage thanks to Luke O'Nien's close-range finish at Bristol Rovers.

Preston score at MillwallImage source, Rex Features

stevedwhittle: This is typical of Millwall. Beat one of the best teams in the league away. Get battered at home by one of the worst. I fear Harris’s time is coming to an end.

Kevin Samuelson: Well I certainly enjoyed Leeds being top of the Championship, for ALL of those 7 mins.

  19. goal

GOAL Norwich City 1-2 Bristol Citypublished at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    Callum O'Dowda (37 mins)

Straight from the kick-off, Bristol City are back in front at Carrow Road. Callum O'Dowda catches the home side napping for an immediate response to Kenny McLean's equaliser.

It's a great run and finish, too, by the Republic of Ireland international.

  20. goal

    Kenny McLean (36 mins)

Kenny McLean guides the ball in off the post after the Scot was fed by Teemu Pukki after a nice ball from Onel Hernandez.
