    Newcastle v Everton (15:00 GMT)

    Match of the Day commentator

United offering their manager a new contract is the hot topic in Manchester AND Newcastle, with few dissenting voices.

Monday marks Rafa Benitez's third anniversary of becoming Newcastle's boss, but he won't discuss staying beyond this season until Premier League safety is assured - along with the 'tools' to help , externalavoid future relegation battles.

A fifth successive home league win - not achieved in the same top-flight season since Sir Bobby Robson's day - would be a significant step.

Marco Silva says Everton need to treat every remaining game "as a final". After their battling display against Liverpool last week, maybe seeing them all as derbies would be better.

    Newcastle v Everton (15:00 GMT)

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez makes two changes to the XI that started in the 2-0 defeat at West Ham.

Ki Sung-yueng replaces the injured Sean Longstaff in midfield and full-back DeAndre Yedlin comes in for Javier Manquillo.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Schar, Lascelles, Lejeune, Ritchie, Perez, Hayden, Ki, Almiron, Rondon.

Everton make three changes from the line-up that began in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool.

The visitors were originally due to make two changes - with attacking midfielder Richarlison in for Theo Walcott and Andre Gomes replacing Morgan Schneiderlin in the centre.

But captain Seamus Coleman has withdrawn due to illness and is replaced in the starting XI by Jonjoe Kenny. Tom Davies is on the bench and Gylfi Sigurdsson is captain.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Zouma, Digne, Andre Gomes, Gueye, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Calvert-Lewin.

  3. 'Important can't be overstated'published at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

Cardiff v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton
    Commentator on BBC TV

Wins over Bournemouth and Southampton had taken Cardiff out of the relegation zone but three defeats in a row with an aggregate score of 10-1 has sucked the optimism out of South Wales and leaves them back in the bottom three.

Sol Bamba's season-ending injury is a further blow and the importance of this weekend's game can't be overstated. Cardiff will have to wait three weeks for their next match and face Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool in three of their next four fixtures.

West Ham have won two of their last three games but their away form hasn't been great, losing four of the last five on the road without scoring.

Cardiff make four changes as they desperately try to halt a run of three successive defeats.

Sol Bamba is out for the season and Bruno Manga takes his spot, switching to central defence.

There are also recalls for Harry Arter, Josh Murphy and Junior Hoilett.

Cardiff XI: Etheridge; Peltier, Morrison, Ecuele Manga, Bennett; Gunnarsson, Camarasa, Arter, Murphy; Hoilett, Niasse.

Subs: Smithies, Bacuna, Harris, Ralls, Reid, Zohore, Paterson.

West Ham go with the same XI narrowly beaten at Manchester City.

The only Hammers change in their squad sees Fabian Balbuena return to the bench after injury.

The Hammers will need to be ready for a swirling wind in the Welsh capital.

West Ham XI: Fabianski; Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Snodgrass, Rice, Noble; Lanzini, Felipe Anderson, Hernandez.

Subs: Adrian, Balbuena, Obiang, Masuaku, Nasri, Antonio, Arnautovic.

  5. 'Far from clear of danger'published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

    Southampton v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

Southampton are still far from clear of danger in the Premier League, but Ralph Hasenhüttl's points tally from his 14 games in charge is double that of Mark Hughes in the first 14 games of the season: 18 compared to nine.

That suggests the Austrian has been effective fighting fires at St Mary's. However, the bigger question remains: what has gone wrong since they were a top-half team four seasons running?

Mauricio Pochettino may have a view on that , externalbut will keep it to himself - especially as he'll be watching the game with the Southampton board of directors because of a touchline ban.

He'll probably enjoy the view. Tottenham's comprehensive two-legged victory over Dortmund was extremely impressive, and they seem unlikely to lose at Southampton for the first time since 2005.

    Southampton v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on Football Focus

The losses are a negative for Spurs, they would maybe have liked to have turned them into draws.

But the win against Borussia Dortmund will give them confidence.

They've gone through a bad period but I fully expect them to get the result they need out of the game at Southampton today.

I can't wait for them to get into that new stadium now!

Looking at the team news across the PL sides I can't help noticing a disproportionately high number of British players who are unavailable through injury this weekend. My take on this is, generally speaking, the homegrown players put themselves about a little bit more than their overseas teammates and consequently receive more injuries, especially in winter. What do others think?

    Craig Shakespeare
Former Leicester City manager on Radio 5 live

We all know Jamie Vardy's strengths. As a manager, you have to implement your style of play. We used to have a style which suited Jamie and the way he played. A lot is made and too much is made about other things. He is not easy to work with but I loved him to bits. He will run through a brick wall for you. He is different. I'd have him in my team every day of the week.

    Leicester v Fulham (15:00 GMT)

    Conor McNamara
    BBC Radio 5 live commentator

There's a reason these clubs have changed managers. Leicester and Fulham have had the worst form in the Premier League over the past 10 games, Fulham losing eight of their last nine.

Brendan Rodgers and Scott Parker, who know each other well from their time at Chelsea, both lost their respective first games in charge last weekend.

One big plus for Rodgers is that Jamie Vardy appears to be back in form with three goals in his last four games. Vardy's next for the club will be his 100th in Leicester colours.

The last man to achieve that milestone was…Gary Lineker.

Brendan Rodgers takes charge of his first home game as Leicester City manager as they face struggling Fulham at The King Power Stadium today.

And he sends a message to the Foxes' fans in his programme notes as he says: "I believe the support of our fans and their connection with their football team is vital."

He talks of "our King Power Stadium journey" adding: "It's a first step that we will make together and I know that with your support, we can make it a positive one."

Mauricio in the Poch seats at St Mary's today as he begins his two-match touchline ban. A win for Tottenham today against his old club could cap a very progressive few days after success in Europe and a date to finally return home.

Southampton could end the evening five points clear of the relegation zone, but they might also end up back in it. It's a day to make use of their own abode.

  18. 'Not a must win game'published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2019

Cardiff v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Cardiff City

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock: "I don't think it's a must-win game. I think it's a very important game in the circumstances, but there'll be other games that are must win later in the season.

"The lads have been a bit flat this week, which is understandable because it's the worst week we've had in the Premier League. In management, it's all about trying to lift them when they're down.

"We've got some good players who are playing below par. It's about getting the match winners into the team and how they can lift the confidence."
