Youri Tielemans is a very interesting one and Monaco has been strange club for a few years - brilliant then awful

He had injuries during his time there but it could turn out to be an intelligent deal [for Leicester].

He was actually voted one of the worst players in the league last season though, but he is only 21.

PSG have come in with a very late with a renewed bid of just over £26m for Idrissa Gueye, but Everton have rejected the offer. I think that was for two reasons:

    A) Everton don't want to lose the player

    B) It has come so late that they won't be able to get a replacement for him.

It will be disappointing for the player because he wanted to go but I would be amazed if anything would happen now.

It would have been a great move for him. He is 29-years-old and it would have been the chance to enjoy the latter stages of his career, but that chance to him has been denied, so what will he be like at the club over the coming weeks?

As ever with these things - what could go wrong leaving a mult-million pound investment until the very last minute? That's how all the best business deals are generally carried out.

  7. Batshuayi to Palace?published at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2019

    David Ornstein
    BBC Sport

In the last half an hour, Crystal Palace have been given the chance to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.

He’s a player Palace have considered all window. Talks are ongoing, there's no guarantee it will happen - clubs need to agree and there's lots of paperwork to be done.

    Julien Laurens
French football expert on BBC Radio 5 live

Youri Tielemens suffered in France under the pressure of arriving at Monaco as the Belgian wonder kid. He struggled for consistency but he has lots of talent and he could perform at Leicester in his preferred position as an attacking midfielder.

Spurs fan: Pochettino looks at the character as well as the player. If he doesn't want someone, then he's done enough to earn our trust by now.

Why does everyone keep blaming Pochettino for not signing anyone? Can't you see that his hands are tied by the strings of the puppet master levy

    Giles, Camden

As a Spurs fan I'm delighted by the lack of signings. Wasting money on impulse buys in the January 'sales' is never the way forward. I'm married, I should know!

    Batshuayi has a celebration fail

There have been a lot of rumours circulating about Chelsea's Belgium forward Michy Batshuayi today but no real idea where he is going.

West Ham and Real Betis had loans agreed with Chelsea but they haven't happened, partly due to the player's wage demands.

Tottenham were thrown into the mix but it is understood they were never seriously interested.

Yet Batshuayi has signed his papers releasing him from his loan at Valencia so, as it stands, he is a Chelsea player again.

    But for how long?

Newcastle's £20m signing of Miguel Amiron remains the biggest deal of the day.

Miguel Almiron is a creative player who also scores goals but we know it is a massive jump from the MLS to the Premier League.

You generally trust Rafa Benitez's decision-making and he normally gets it right. He has probably spoken about him with DeAndre Yedlin, who knows the American game, and he has made the signing.

I'm delighted with the news of Anthony Martial signing a contract extension at Manchester United. Before he came, lots of people were talking about this talent and saying how good he is.

Then he gets stuck out on the wing. I would prefer to see him more centrally but he has scored more goals at Manchester United than any other player since he moved to Old Trafford - and he is supposedly a failure.
