    England 3-0 Japan

England play a bit of keep-ball to run the clock down.

Jodie Taylor is dispossessed. Japan make ground on the right, eventually Hina Sugita cuts back but there are no team-mates there ready to pounce.

    Wasteful.

  3. Postpublished at 44 mins

    England 3-0 Japan

A long diagonal ball from Steph Houghton goes awry.

England are making a few mistakes, but Japan aren't capitalising at the moment.

Whether that changes after the break remains to be seen.

We've got two minutes of added time.

  4. Postpublished at 41 mins

    England 3-0 Japan

England sub Georgia Stanway makes a great start by setting up Jodie Taylor, who's paced into the box.

But urrrgh, that was a poor final effort from the England forward. She totally scuffed it.

Ross Auld: Well the Lionesses aren't out of second gear and are already miles ahead. Sorry...roaring ahead.

Izzy Christiansen isn't going to be able to continue. It looks like a knee and/or ankle issue.

Georgia Stanway comes on in her place. Christiansen looks inconsolable on the side of the pitch and she can barely walk.

Izzy Christiansen has done herself some harm there. She was going for the ball but just clatters into the defender. This is the downside of the friendlies.

    England 3-0 Japan

Lucy Bronze absolutely storms down the right, feeds to Jodie Taylor, who dummies for Izzy Christiansen.

Unfortunately for the England midfielder, Risa Shimizu gets there first and the pair collide in the box. That looks nasty - and it was a late pile-in by Christiansen.

The loose ball is pinged into the back of the net but the ref had already blown up.

Let's rewind for a minute and take another look at Lucy Staniforth's opener in the 12th minute.

    England 3-0 Japan

Yui Hasegawa's effort is safely in the hands of Carly Telford. Looks like the Japan midfielder was muscled off the ball by the resolute Lionesses defence.

That is the pass of the tournament. What a ball from Keira Walsh! Beth Mead cuts in from the right and could have laid it off but her first thought was to strike it and it's a great hit.

To see that pass is one thing... but to execute it? Absolute perfection.

  12. goal

GOAL - England 3-0 Japanpublished at 29 mins

    Beth Mead

Well! Who thought this would happen?!

England are 3-0 up before the break!

From deep inside her own half, Keira Walsh sends down a wonderful curling pass to Arsenal's Beth Mead, who cuts inside and fires home with her left foot.

    England 2-0 Japan

Good defending by England, as Japan continue to press.

Leah Williamson keeps cool under pressure and takes the ball from the feet of Moeno Sakaguchi.

The Japan midfielder then takes a chance from distance, so Carly Telford is forced into action. She's not had much to do and the fairly weak shot is easily gathered.

  14. Postpublished at 26 mins

    England 2-0 Japan

Japan are hogging possession in midfield. Mayu Ikejiri is making headway down the left but is closed down by the Lionesses and she's forced to pass back.

It was great wing-play by Karen Carney as she saw where Jodie Taylor was going to go and got herself in the right position. It's another assist from Taylor too. Brilliant from her. She just uses her body. England have been clinical both times they have got in.

  16. goal

GOAL - England 2-0 Japanpublished at 22 mins

    Karen Carney

    *whispers*

    It's coming home.

Karen Carney heads home England's second after a brilliant cutback from Jodie Taylor on the byeline.

    The Japanese defence are shooketh.

There's lots of positive signs going into this World Cup with these England players in form. This tournament has shown it and there's still players at home - whether that's through injury or they just haven't made selection!

    England 1-0 Japan

I've just seen that turn by Jodie Taylor to set up Lucy Staniforth's goal.

    Beautiful!

Taylor's a player so many people love to watch and you can see why.

  19. Postpublished at 17 mins

    England 1-0 Japan

At the moment, England are coping well in defence - bar a few dodgy passes.

Mayu Ikejiri is willing and waiting for a ball into the box for Japan. Lucy Bronze ushers away the danger.
