She did follow through and connect with the player. Anywhere else on the pitch you would say it's a foul.

France 1-1 Norway
It just won't go in for France. Amel Majri peppers the Norway box with cross after cross until Marion Torrent goes down under a challenge from Ingrid Engen.
It's being checked over by VAR...
France 1-1 Norway
The longer this match goes on, the happier Nigeria will feel. If it stays a draw, they are just one point below France and Norway.
They play France in their last group game so a victory is still a long shot but if they did manage to get three points, they could go through as winners or runners-up.

Look at the body language of the French players after that setback. You can see it's affected them. But they've got to expect the pressure of this tournament. As much as they've talked about making history, there's going to be lots of ups and downs.
France 1-1 Norway
Gaetane Thiney's way is blocked down the left and she has to draw it back to Amandine Henry, who again, passes all the way back to Griedge Mbock Bathy.
The centre-back honks it back upfield and it ends up bouncing out for a goalkick. France have just lost their way a little...
France 1-1 Norway
Isabell Herlovsen runs at Wendie Renard but she's not getting past. This time the centre-back does the job and pokes it away for a corner.
France 1-1 Norway
Wendie Renard is the first player to score an own goal for France at a Women's World Cup.
Ouch!

Katie T: Can't even get a half time cup of tea without missing a goal in this World Cup. Last night USA tonight France!
France 1-1 Norway
Valeria Gauvin is getting lots of the ball in this second half. Her shot from a tight angle fizzes the side-netting as another French attack comes to nothing.
They are fired up though. They want a second.

Silvio Di Fede: Now, Wendie Renard has to score in the right end to redeem herself.
Sulaimon Adelekan: Oh no! From hero to zero. What a terrible mistake by Wendie Renard. Now the match is delicately poised.
France 1-1 Norway
Kadidiatou Diani is flattened by Maria Thorisdottir on the edge of the box but it falls kindly for Valerie Gauvin, who is left completely unmarked on the right side.
The referee plays advantage but Gauvin smacks it straight into the keeper's hands. The French try to argue against the advantage but it's good refereeing and a wasted opportunity!

Greg Morter: Looked easier to miss having seen the replay.
Hamza Darby: Best goal of the tourement that by Norway!

That is shocking. It's good play from Norway and a lovely ball in behind. It looked like Wendie Renard was in control of the ball and it was going out, but suddenly she tucked the ball inside the far post.

Wow. The player you least expect to gift Norway a way back into this game. I don't even know what she was thinking.
Everything she does is really cool, really laid-back, maybe a bit too much there. She can't believe it. I can't believe it.
Wendie Renard (own goal)
OH MY WORD. What is she doing!? Of all the people, Wendie Renard...
It's an absolute howler. A shocker. Quick, delete! Rewind!
A pretty harmless ball is sent in from the left and the French centre-back has nobody behind her. She either doesn't get a shout, or doesn't hear it, and ends up practically passing the ball into her own net.
It's a comedy error and even Renard has to smile afterwards but that's a big, big goal for Norway!
France 1-0 Norway
France are really hotting things up. Flicks, tricks, runs in behind, one-twos... an exquisite build-up involved Eugenie Le Sommer, Amandine Henry and Amel Majri is headed wide by Valerie Gauvin.
What a stunning goal that would have been!
France 1-0 Norway

You can see the French team's confidence growing and Gaetane Thiney's coming into it more and more. I'm a big fan of hers. She's an excellent player.
France 1-0 Norway
Amel Majri whips in a corner from the right but it's cleared at the near post. France retain possession but Marion Torrent's ball goes way over and out for a goal kick.
Skipper Amandine Henry shakes her head in disgust!
