    France 1-0 Norway

Amel Majri had an age to put that cross in. Sleepy start from Norway. Will France build on this now?

    France 1-0 Norway

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds United Ladies striker on BBC Four

The best possible start for France and worst possible one for Norway - they had dealt so well with all the crosses into the box but this is exactly what France wanted.

It is good build-up play down this left-hand side, Gauvin just got in front [of her marker] by a yard and that was all she needed. That has settled the nerves.

    Emma Hayes
Chelsea Women manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

That's the difference between Diani and Majri. It's a wonderful cross in from Majri and Gauvin gets between the two defenders to finish it with the inside of her left foot.

GOAL - France 1-0 Norwaypublished at 46 mins

    Valerie Gauvin

Oh what a start from the French! The Norwegians look shell-shocked.

It's simple but effective. A swinging cross in from Amel Majri from the left is smashed straight in by Valerie Gauvin, who had stepped in front of Chelsea centre-back Maria Thorisdottir.

A big 45 minutes coming up. If Norway can find a goal without reply, they are into the last 16.

Here's how the Group A table looks as it stands. France still top the group on goal difference but a draw here would make things very interesting for Nigeria...

    United States 13-0 Thailand

    Claire Rafferty
    Ex-England international on BBC Four

Were the United States' celebrations disrespectful, when beating Thailand 13-0 yesterday?

This is a World Cup, there is no time for niceties, they were relentless and I don't think they did anything wrong. Thailand need to invest in their structure.

Maxwell: Wow!!! What a match. The Norwegians moves the ball better but their final delivery...

Hazardous Costa: Just imagine if the best player was playing for Norway, it would be game over.

Plenty of chances in that first half. Nine shots from the French in total but only two on target. They have just been lacking that end product and ruthlessness.

Norway have also had two shots on target and enjoyed more possession, just, as well as dealing with 12 crosses from open play. A pretty solid half from them.

  11. 'Compact and narrow'published at 20:54 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France 0-0 Norway

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Four

Norway have been really compact and narrow and the two midfielders in front of the back four have done well.

  12. 'Norway are clinging on'published at 20:53 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France 0-0 Norway

    Claire Rafferty
    Ex-England international on BBC Four

France have had a few chances, Diani has been electric - she is so quick and has been isolating the full-back, but they need to be finishing from these passes. Norway are clinging on a bit.

This could be my favourite news report of the day...

USA were on fire last night as they thrashed Thailand 13-0 in their opening match but they weren't the only ones celebrating as customers at a bar in Miami hit the jackpot.

The American Social Bar and Kitchen had used its social media page to offer customers a free shot every time the USA scored at the game in Reims.

They clearly did not expect a 13-0 victory and a turnout of about 40-50 people ended up walking home a little gingerly.

Erm, no. Valerie Gauvin is penalised for leaning into Vilde Risa and the whistle goes just as the corner is played short.

A corner to France... Wendie Renard to score late in the half?

  17. 'Engen's an engine'published at 20:44 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France 0-0 Norway

    Emma Hayes
Chelsea Women manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

If we look at the midfield, I think Norway are winning that battle. Ingrid Engen has been an engine.

It'll be interesting to see how the French approach the second half. Their best chances have come when they've gone from back to front, the diagonal passes into Diani in particular.

    France 0-0 Norway

Norway are ending the half strongly and again, it's down the left where they are causing damage. New Chelsea signing Guro Reiten is an ever-present, while Isabell Herlovsen is making some dangerous runs.

    France 0-0 Norway

Caroline Graham Hansen plays a nice one-two on the edge of the France box but her shot, Norway's first on target, is comfortably held by Sarah Bouhaddi.

    France 0-0 Norway

While the French are getting plenty of joy down the right, the Norwegians are looking to get it to the feet of Guro Reiten at any given moment.

She has worked predominantly down this left-hand side, near the dugouts.
