Interested to see how Valeria Gauvin gets on in attack for France. She was dropped from the opening match for reportedly turning up late to training on two occasions.

She must be raring to prove a point.

Some of these French players are the best in the women's game, they've proved that time and again. If you sit off them they'll open you up so it's important for Norway to get pressure on the ball.

The key for Norway tonight will be solidity in defence. That's where they are usually weakest and coach Martin Sjogren has already said they will be dropping deeper against this French team.

Captain Maren Mjelde and Chelsea teammate Maria Thorisdottir are in for a busy night at centre-back...

I still think the French have nailed this national anthem. Definitely the best out there. Italy a close second.

Out come the teams. A few cheers of encouragement from some of the Norwegian players. Wendie Renard's presence is clear to see. She still towers over everybody.

    National anthem time!

  7. 'We're going to play deeper'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France v Norway (20:00 BST)

Norway boss Martin Sjogren: "Our style will be totally different against France. We were on top of the match all the time [against Norway] but against France it will be a totally different match, they are much more attacking than we are.

"We're going to go a bit deeper, we'll play as more of a group. We will try to make counter-attacks against France. We have a clear plan for how we're going to play against them. We know it's going to be tough, but we have a very good team."

Becca: Becca’s back with another prediction! Renard may have towered over the South Korean defenders but it won’t be as easy against a taller Norway team! But I’m going with 2-0 to France - Allez les bleues!

  11. Hansen and Reiten leading the waypublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France v Norway (20:00 BST)

Everyone knows the talent pool in this French squad - Eugenie Le Sommer, Amandine Henry, Wendie Renard and Sarah Bouhaddi just to name a few.

Seven players from the squad were recently crowned European champions for a fourth year in a row with French club Lyon.

But Norway have a few of their own too. With Ada Hegerberg out of the equation, hopes will turn to 24-year-old winger Caroline Graham Hansen.

She has recently signed for Barcelona after winning three league titles and fives cups with Wolfsburg.

Her pace, creativity and dribbling skills make her a real threat and alongside Norwegian top scorer Guro Reiten, she will look to get at this French team.

  13. Bright start sets up chancepublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France v Norway (20:00 BST)

Norway showed they were capable of causing damage, even without Ballon d'Or winner Ada Hegerberg in their opening match.

First-half goals from Guro Reiten, Lisa-Marie Utland and an own goal from Osinachi Ohale did the job against Nigeria at Stade Auguste-Delaune.

Norway are chasing their first world title in 24 years but remain one of just four teams to win the competition.

Boss Martin Sjogren admitted his side expect to enjoy less possession against the higher-ranked France but they have a "clear plan" of how to tackle their opponents.

  15. Win in Paris sets tonepublished at 19:40 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France v Norway (20:00 BST)

Hosts France opened the World Cup with a brilliant victory over South Korea in front of a sold-out crowd in Paris.

It put down a marker to the rest of the tournament favourites as a breathless performance led to goals from Eugenie Le Sommer, Wendie Renard (x2) and captain Amandine Henry.

The 45,261 fans inside the Parc des Princes were filled with hope as this French side showcased why they are serious contenders for their first world title.

Only the United States, with their 13-0 thrashing of Thailand, have matched France in terms of performance levels so far.

Les Blues are big favourites to top the group and anything less will be seen as a disappointing group stage.

  18. The battle for the top spotpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France v Norway (20:00 BST)

This game is being sold as the match which will decide the winner of Group A.

Hosts France, who are one of the big favourites to go all the way in the tournament, currently lead on goal difference.

Their impressive 4-0 win over South Korea on the opening night set the tone and Norway followed it up with a comfortable 3-0 win over Nigeria on Saturday.

The winner of Group A will face the third place team from either Group C, D or E - which means Scotland or England are a potential opponent.

The runner-up in this group will take on the runner-up in Group C, which could be any one of Australia, Italy, Brazil or Jamaica.

  19. Two big-hitters in actionpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 12 June 2019

    France v Norway (20:00 BST)

These two teams are no strangers - regulars on the world stage and meeting for the 21st time in all competitions.

They have only met once in the World Cup - Norway won 2-0 in the group stages in 2003 - and they last drew 1-1 in a friendly in July 2017.

France will equal their group stage performances from 2011 and 2015 with victory today and they are looking to go further than their fourth place finish in 2011, having scored 13 goals in their last four World Cup matches.

The French remain unbeaten in their last six games too, scoring 22 goals, and have won 14 of their last 15 in all competitions.

Norway, ranked 12th, have not won their opening two matches at the finals for 20 years but also finished fourth in 1999 - their best achievement at a World Cup.

They have won their last six matches and conceded just one goal so are definitely a threat to the hosts.

Norway have also made just one change - opting to keep 10 of the starting XI from their 3-0 win over Nigeria.

FC Rosengard forward Lisa-Marie Karlseng Utland replaces Kolbotn Fotball's Karina Saevik. Chelsea pair Maren Mjelde and Maria Thorisdottir start together in central defence.

Norway XI: Hjelmseth, Thorisdottir, Minde, Wold, Mjelde, Risa, Reiten, Saevik, Engen, Hansen, Herlovsen
