  4. HALF-TIME Japan 2-0 Scotlandpublished at 45+2 mins

It's been a comfortable afternoon for Japan, who have bossed the ball and cut Scotland open a few times.

A defensive blunder led to the first goal and the second came from a dubious penalty but Shelley Kerr's side have been very much second best.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 45 mins

    Japan 2-0 Scotland

The Scotland defence is static as a stumbling Hina Sugita stabs a rising shot against the junction of crossbar and post from close range.

The ball is knocked away to the edge of the penalty box and Emi Nakajima smashes it just over.

    Japan 2-0 Scotland

Scotland getting more bodies forward now but a promising opening is wasted as Lizzie Arnot doesn't want to take a shot on with her left foot and then turns into trouble.

  7. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Japan 2-0 Scotland

Can Scotland find a response before half time? Jane Ross does well to hold the ball up and it is eventually worked to Erin Cuthbert, who has a dig from the edge of the box.

The shot is always rising and it whizzes narrowly over the top. Better from the Scots. Much better.

Spot-kick and a booking for the Scotland skipper.

A very soft penalty. Very soft.

Free kick to Japan in a dangerous area. Scotland clear but the ball is soon back in the penalty area and goalkeeper Lee Alexander is all over the place, nowhere near it. Kim Little comes to the rescue, the diminutive playmaker heading clear from the goal-line.

    A lucky escape.

    Mana Iwabuchi

Japan seize on a poor headed clearance from Rachel Corsie and the ball is played square to Mana Iwabuchi on the edge of the box in a central position.

The midfielder lets fly with a rising shot and it whizzes past covering defender Jen Beattie and over the top of goalie Lee Alexander.
