So a potentially decisive day in the Scottish Premiership title race, with the champions moving eight points clear in their quest for an eighth successive crown.

And amazing drama at the conclusion of both Motherwell's win over Hearts earlier, and Celtic's last-gasp victory at Kilmarnock.

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke tells BBC Scotland: "We asked for a consistent level of performance, and I thought we were good today. I thought there were two good teams on pitch.

"We didn’t deserve the bad break at the end. We’re a little unfortunate. It’s frustrating to play so well and not get anything from the game."

Asked about Kirk Broadfoot's red card, he added: "I've only seen the wide-angle lens, and it’s hard to tell. But it didn’t look too good from the sidelines.

"Even after going down to 10 men we looked reasonably comfortable. I couldn’t see Celtic scoring to be honest."

More from Rodgers, who had sympathy for his skipper Scott Brown, who earned a second yellow card - and a red - for jumping over the advertising hoardings to celebrate his late winner with the Celtic fans.

"It is one thing that spoils the game now," Rodgers said. "It is so emotional when you score so late on, and it was a very important win.

"I suppose it is in the rules, but I feel for any player that gets sent off for celebrating. We all want to see that passion in the game."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers on BBC Sportsound:

"We weren't settling for a draw. We play to win every game and I thought we played very well considering we had a game of such intensity and difficulty on Thursday.

"It is never easy here, you have got to break through their block and they are very well organised. You know there are not going to be many chances so you have got to be ready.

"In the second half the players had great control and limited Kilmarnock to nothing really. When the moment arrived we took it, so I thought we were well deserving of the win."

Kilmarnock have made two more changes. First Canadian forward Liam Millar replaces the impressive Conor McAleny up front, now Rory McKenzie is on for Chris Burke, who deservedly gets a warm round of applause for his efforts today.
