Jordan Jones gets to the left bye-line and whips it in to Conor McAleny, who turns and riles a thumping shot past Scott Bain's despairing dive.

But the elation doesn't last long. The Kilmarnock striker used a hand to guide the ball into his path initially, and that was swiftly flagged.

Promising from the hosts though.

Jonny Hayes - Celtic's left-back today - advances forward, beats Stephen O'Donnell and whips in a cross that Kirk Broadfoot does well to head out for a corner.

Both teams striving to get that elusive opening goal.

Jordan Jones skips down the right, cuts inside past two green shirts, but his shot is poor and it goes harmlessly past the post.

Lovely chip ahead from Callum McGregor into the feet of Scott Sinclair, but the move goes nowhere. Frustrating times for the champions.

Free-kick to Kilmarnock just outside the edge of the Celtic area, right of centre. Chris Burke gives it plenty, but it flies over the crossbar.

Bit of a delay in proceedings while Killie keeper Daniel Bachmann receives some treatment. Not sure what happened to the big Austrian there, but he's fit to continue after a bit of magic spray.

Kilmarnock pinning the champions inside their own half in this first five minutes of the second period. Callum McGregor runs out with the ball, but his pass forward is intercepted by first Alan Power and then Gary Dicker. Those two have probably been men of the match so far.

We're hearing - and watching a slow-motion replay courtesy of the host broadcasters - that Kilmarnock forward Kris Boyd was struck by a coin while warming up in front of the Celtic end during that first half at Rugby Park.

More on that later perhaps.
