You can see that reaction from Alexandra Popp. She seemed surprised it ended up in the back of the net. It's an instinctive nod towards goal. I don't think she expected it to come through to her. It's an excellent finish.

    Captain fantastic!

A corner is fizzed in from the left and it falls straight onto the head of Alexandra Popp. She just guides it straight into the bottom corner from an unmarked position.

    Easy. As. That.

Not a bad way to mark your 100th cap!

Fans are doing a Mexican Wave. It's not that bad a game! We're only 16 minutes in. Wow. Anyway, it's too warm to do the Mexican Wave!

Germany can't beat the first defender. One corner is headed clear before another cross is deflected behind the backline.

It's played short to Verena Schweers, and again, her cross sails straight out for a goalkick.

Uchenna Kanu tracks back to block Sara Doorsoun's pass down the line but Germany retain possession and begin another patient build-up from the back.

Alexandra Popp then has space to drive through the centre and has a go from long-range - earning a corner from a deflection.

What a glorious view at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble.

    Absolutely stunning!

Francisca Ordega's clearance comes straight back to Lina Magull on the right but another attack breaks down.

It's been a little sloppy from Germany so far.

The Germans win a corner on the right but again, it's wasted, as they play it short and send a wayward cross in towards the back post.

It ends up sailing straight out for a goal kick.

Uchenna Kanu is sent chasing down the left but Sara Doorsoun comes across to make the tackle.

Desire Oparanouzie then does well to cut inside and win a corner off the defender but it's an easy take for goalkeeper Almuth Schult.

That was an opportunity for the German forwards to get on end of that corner. Germany are stretching Nigeria far too early in the game. I suspect Nigeria's chances in front of goal won't come as often so they have to make the most of them.

  20. CLOSE!published at 6 mins

    Germany 0-0 Nigeria

Germany win a free-kick about 25 yards out, just left of the area. Alexandra Popp and Svenja Huth are stood over it...

It's played short and eventually falls at the feet of Lina Magull, just a few yards out in the centre, but her shot is crucially blocked at the last minute!
