  1. 'Sweden will be hurting too'published at 15:30 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

This will be the first meeting between England and Sweden at a World Cup, but they have played each other 17 times.

Sweden have only lost twice and finished third in the World Cup in 1991 and 2011. They were also runners-up to the USA in 2003.

The last time Sweden played England was in a friendly in November and the Swedes won 2-0.

"It's a great barometer for us, in terms of the challenge ahead, looking at whether we can beat teams like Sweden," said England coach Phil Neville.

"Like us, they are consistently challenging to try to get over that line to win tournaments and they will probably be hurting like we are after their semi-final."

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

Sweden are boosted by the return of forward Fridolina Rolfo, who is available after serving suspension in the semi-final.

"She's a player who, with her top qualities, is someone you always want to have no matter who you are playing," said Sweden coach Peter Gerhardsson.

"It’s great for us that she is back."

Both sets of players are wisely using the shade for their warm-ups.

It's around 28 degrees here but it's going to feel like 38 degrees in the heat of the sun, according to the local weather forecast.

That's not quite as stifling as it was last weekend, but it's not far off.

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

England forward Beth Mead on Karen Carney: "A player who I looked up massively growing up and still to this day, learnt so much from this wizard.

"Absolute honour to train, play and to call you a team mate. Absolute legend, wish you all the luck in the future."

Emma Hayes, head coach of Chelsea Women, added: "I've got to be honest, I'm absolutely devastated that she's retiring but I'm so proud of her for all of her achievements throughout her career.

"I'll personally feel like I've lost a limb when I go back to pre-season. I'm going to miss her terribly.

"She is a fabulous role model. She's achieved everything she wanted to in her game and I'm thankful for that."

Ellen White is a legend right?

She was devastated following England's defeat on Tuesday but spoke well in her post-match interview with BBC Sport's Jo Currie.

Can she score today and move ahead of the USA's Alex Morgan in the race for the Golden Boot?

Fingers, legs and toes crossed for you Ellen!

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

England are returning to Nice, the stadium where they won two group matches against Scotland and Japan on the way to topping Group D.

The Lionesses, ranked third in the world, also featured in this match in Canada when they came through in extra-time to beat two-time champions Germany.

Sweden also have a bronze medal to their name - two in fact. They are ranked ninth but have beaten top opposition on their way to the semi-finals.

They beat Germany in the quarter-finals and knocked out Canada in the last 16 while taking the Netherlands to extra-time in their last match.

  9. 'An honour to play with her'published at 15:13 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

England forward Jodie Taylor on Karen Carney: "I hope she really does get the send-off she deserves, she’s an amazing human and an amazing player.

"I hope the fans come over and give her a lot of support. She’s known as ‘the wizard’, and I don’t completely know why but my guess is because she’s so good on the ball, so creative, and so tricky.

"She’s got nutmegs galore! I played with her at Birmingham a good few years ago, and she set up a lot of my goals. It was an absolute privilege and honour to play with her.”

Karen Carney's had an incredible career. Only Reading midfielder Fara Williams (170) has made more appearances for England.

Carney also was part of the 2015 World Cup squad which finished third in Canada and her experience will be invaluable today.

When asked where she would be without football, Carney said: "In the nicest possible way, my first job was at Sainsbury's - my mum worked there and I was a bag packer. I would have worked my way up there.

"I wasn't good at school so I wouldn't have gone to university. I'm so grateful for football and I don't know where I would be without it, but I know I would have worked hard."

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

FC Rosengard captain and Sweden midfielder Caroline Seger will play her 200th match for her country tonight.

It is expected to be her final World Cup match. But that’s not something she's currently thinking about.

"I think when everything is over and you're done with all of this, it’s first then you will start to reflect at it in another way," said Seger.

"Now you're in the middle of it and just try to focus on such an important match."

  14. Race for the Golden Bootpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    England v Sweden (16:00 BST)

There's still a gold trophy available for England striker Ellen White.

The new Manchester City signing is in the race for the Golden Boot and is currently level with the USA's Alex Morgan, who scored the winner against England in the semi-finals.

Morgan is not in action until tomorrow so White has a chance to extend her tally. She is currently level on six goals but Morgan has three assists to White's none.

A goal for White will also be just the third time a women's player has scored seven in a World Cup - after American Michelle Akers and Brazilian Marta.

Reading midfielder Fara Williams scored an extra-time penalty as England beat Germany for the first time in 31 years to pick up bronze in Canada.

It was the best finish by any English team since the men's side won the competition in 1966. And the Lionesses can equal that today.

Plenty of that squad are still playing today, including captain Steph Houghton, keeper Karen Bardsley, Lucy Bronze, Jill Scott, Ellen White, Karen Carney and Alex Greenwood - who all started in Edmonton.

In true Karen Carney spirit, we're asking people how they have been inspired by the Lionesses this summer.

Carney has spoken at length on how she hopes to inspire the next generation and thought winning bronze in Canada was a turning point for women's football in the UK.

So how have the Lionesses' achievements been received back home this year? Is your son wearing Ellen White shirts? Did your daughter ask for a football for her birthday?
