USA boss Jill Ellis speaking to BBC: "This group have been focused and confident but I've also seen a team that has enjoyed being on this journey together and that says it all.

"They are hungry and focused and want to get after this. We have taken a tough road to get here so a lot of good qualities have come out of us."

  3. Strength in depthpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    USA v Netherlands (16:00 BST)

One of the USA's biggest strengths is that they can make an impact off the bench. The hero of 2015 - Carli Lloyd - has spent most of the tournament as a substitute.

She's not the only big name the US have the luxury of bringing on either. Big stars like Lindsey Horan and Christen Press are also being kept out of the side.

Their superstar subs have already netted five times off the bench. So you wouldn't want the game to go to extra-time when the USA came bring on this kind of firepower...

Sean: Netherlands are tactical and creative enough to take advantage of usa defensive weaknesses. If they can reduce usa shots on goal, which haven't been great, they can win this.

Ross Chaplin: USA to win 5-0.

Wearing that captain's armband, Megan Rapinoe has really changed as a person. She has stepped up as a player but she has really stepped up in her voice off the field too.

What an atmosphere at the Stade de Lyon! This is by far the best - and loudest - vibe at any game we've had at this tournament.

But then we didn't expect anything else from the Oranje army and USA mega fans.

There are queues for miles outside drinks and merchandise stands, and every now and again a battle of the chants breaks out.

Brace yourselves - it's going to be a belter.

  8. A threat in the airpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    USA v Netherlands (16:00 BST)

The Netherlands have gone 10 games unbeaten in all competitions, conceding just four goals in the process.

But they are pretty good at creating chances too. They have netted 11 goals in France, five of those coming from headers.

That's almost 20% of the overall headed goals in the tournament...

  11. Women need to 'take risks'published at 15:32 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    USA v Netherlands (16:00 BST)

Netherlands boss Sarina Wiegman hopes women will draw inspiration and "take risks" with their choices as two women are set to manage in a World Cup final for just the second time.

Germany's win over Sweden in 2003 was the only other time a Women's World Cup final was managed by two women.

"What we need to do as women is to show that we have qualities," said Wiegman.

"In the bigger picture, I think it is important that women get the chance to develop - as players, coaches and in other types of football and society.

"I also think women should have the guts to make choices and take risks to go for higher positions."

Dutch goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal has had an excellent tournament, making vital saves in the semi-final win over Sweden.

But the whole time she has been wearing boots that are too small for her!

“My right boot is a little too small during games, but they’re working, so I can’t change them! It’s definitely superstition!

"I will not take them off.”

    USA v Netherlands (16:00 BST)

    Sue Smith
Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

The USA have just got stronger as the tournament has gone on. They have been fantastic going forward and France and England tested them at the back they remained solid.

I still think there is more to come from the Dutch and I think we have to see the quality that won them the Euros today.

  18. A 22-year-old waiting to shinepublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    USA v Netherlands (16:00 BST)

Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema was one of the most in-form players in the world heading into the tournament.

She has played every game for the Netherlands so far and has been a threat but hasn't quite reached the heights everybody knows she is capable of.

The 22-year-old hasn't done too badly though. She is the Netherlands' top scorer with three and became her country's all-time top-scorer in the group stages.

She's also creating a lot. The forward has had a hand in the most shots at the tournament (32), attempting 24 shots herself and creating eight goalscoring chances.

Not bad. But can she turn up the heat in today's final?

  20. How it went down in Canadapublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 7 July 2019

    USA v Netherlands (16:00 BST)

Rewind four years ago and you see a familiar sight - the USA in a Women's World Cup final.

But it wasn't just any final. It was a seven-goal thriller on a record-breaking occasion in Canada.

The USA were crowed champions for the third time - becoming the first nation to achieve that - with an astonishing 5-2 win over 2011 champions Japan.

Former Manchester City striker Carli Lloyd netted a 13-minute hat-trick as the United States took a thumping 4-0 lead in just 16 minutes.

There were 53,341 fans watching in inside the BC Place and it was the most-viewed football match in US television history!
