    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

    Efan Ekoku
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Manchester City have been dominant as we expected, they have controlled proceedings without really pressing on the accelerator too often.

Crystal Palace have defended reasonably well. There is a bit of nervousness on the ball with the knowledge that City are going to press them inside their own half. Roy Hodgson will be reasonably pleased that it is actually only 1-0. If they can hang on in the second half then there’s a chance it could get more competitive as the game goes on.

Scott: Wouldn't even want Benteke back at Villa as a mascot if they got promoted, horrendous.

Laurence Mason: Amazingly it is only 1-0 to City. Surely Palace can't be this bad in the second half? Big team talk needed for Roy.

Zred: City should be ahead by three goals. These missed chances will come back to haunt them.

    By the way...

Christian Benteke's last league goal was against Leicester in April 2018.

What a moment that would be if he helped out his old club?

Mark, Edinburgh: If Palace can just keep a one goal difference until the hour City will get nervous. They are human after all, aren't they???

Joe Majury, Boston: I can see a certain former Liverpool player equaling this for CPFC. Will Hodgson and his team be the ones to help Liverpool to the title, after being their Achilles heel for the past few years?

  8. 'An afternoon full of emotion'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 14 April 2019

    Liverpool v Chelsea (16:30 BST)

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at Anfield

    Anfield

Plenty of nerves around Anfield on an overcast and windy afternoon on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp has tried to banish talk about that famous game five years ago where Steven Gerrard's slip started the end of the Reds' title challenge.

But the fans won't forget it, and will know that Eden Hazard has already scored a winner here in the Carabao Cup tie earlier in the season.

Today, Liverpool will also mark the 30th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster and the 96 people who died, so it promises to be an afternoon full of emotion.

Al: Give City some credit Joe [14:47]. Palace are working hard but City have been classy after some tired performances.

Levenshulme-Blue: It's not that Palace aren't trying, they just can't get near City!

Wilfried Zaha does well to skip through several challenges on the left before he's hooked from behind by Kevin de Bruyne.

He isn't happy but the referee signals for a free-kick straight away and Zaha quickly calms down.

Keith Illingworth, Leeds: If Man City get to 98 points this season after getting 100 last year then they are setting a standard nobody else can live with. Other teams may as well forget the league for the next five years and try and win a cup instead.

  15. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Ilkay Gundogan's lifted ball into the box causes all kinds of problems but there's three City players making the same run.

Leroy Sane ends up bumping into David Silva, which nudges Raheem Sterling out of the way. Sane reacts to swivel and shoot but his shot is blocked before Kevin de Bruyne smacks the rebound straight into another wall of defenders!

Ederson has just touched the ball and I think it's the first time!

He waits for Christian Benteke to chase him before coolly laying it off to Vincent Kompany.

Joe Kabyemela: You look forward to a match then one team decides they aren't going to turn up. @CPFC ought to hang their collective heads in shame.

Rob: Palace need to get their foot on the ball and start putting some passes together. Seriously outplayed at the moment.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Leroy Sane's deep cross from the left is headed desperately upwards by Patrick van Aanholt and it drops on top of Vicente Guaita's net.

There was nobody attacking the ball and it was a bit needless from Van Aanholt.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

City break forward down the right and Kevin de Bruyne's incisive pass is an inviting one for Sergio Aguero to run onto on the far side.

The Argentine gives up the chase though and De Bruyne isn't happy. He's waving his arms at Aguero.
