So that's all from today's news conferences, during which Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri said it would depend on 'the good of the team' whether Kepa Arrizabalaga will start tomorrow against Tottenham, whose boss Mauricio Pochettino apologised for confronting referee Mike Dean at the weekend.

Brendan Rodgers' expected move to Leicester City from Celtic - Scottish treble winners twice in succession and a club of global stature - will be considered a coup by the Premier League club's hierarchy.

Gareth Howell: Only time will tell if Rodgers is making the right move. He's given up job stability & guaranteed European football for a mid-table team and revolving door of PL. Highly underrated coach though, and could easily prove to be a great appointment by Leicester.

Peter Schotsman: I can't believe people blame Rodgers for going to Leicester. The PL is the biggest national football competition in the world in which Leicester can be relatively competitive with the right resources and management. Great opportunity for him!

Lee Walls: Sad to see BR leaving Celtic in these circumstances. It's a sudden, badly timed and undignified exit. Good luck to him back in the big time though.

Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has said that striker Michael Obafemi is likely to miss the rest of the season.

The 18-year-old suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury just 20 minutes into his comeback against Arsenal on Sunday.

"We have a big injury with Michael," said Hasenhuttl. "We took a long time to let him play again, we didn't let him start.

"But it's completely difficult from training to when you play, the intensity is different. It's a big blow. Until the end of the season, he will not play."

And finally from Pep Guardiola, on the title race the Man City boss added: "Of course we look at what they (Liverpool) do and when they don’t win we are happy. I guess Liverpool is happy when we don't win. Same with Tottenham and the other ones.

"We have the difference of one point, with 33 points to play. The only thing we can do is put on pressure, so they feel we are there and we are going to win and win and win.

"Every game is the same. When you are on top you can drop points but when behind you cannot, because after it'll be more difficult.

"I don’t want to see excuses about tiredness, fixtures, schedules, or how many games. That is nothing. When you have the illusion to fight until the end, to retain the title, the power and the energy to give you that, it is higher than any excuses you can find. We have to run tomorrow and beat them, and after that beat them again."

Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that forward Roberto Firmino (ankle) could feature despite being forced off in the first half of Sunday's 0-0 draw at Manchester United.

Klopp said: "He looks good, we were obviously lucky. It is not as serious as we thought in the first moment, but if Bobby leaves the pitch it is not a good sign.

"We play tomorrow and it will be very close for that, but there's still a chance for the derby (against Everton on Sunday).

"Because it's Bobby, I would say 'yes [for Watford]', but I don't know if I would use that chance. Writing Bobby off is a big mistake because he recovers very quick."

Crystal Palace

Mamadou Sakho will not be available for Palace after the French centre-back limped off during Saturday's win at Leicester, to be replaced by Scott Dann.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson said: "We don't know yet, he's being assessed. We have to wait and see what the diagnosis is. But he won't be playing tomorrow, that I can obviously state. I can't yet comment on how serious or minor the injury is."

Samir Nasri won two Premier League titles and an EFL Cup during his five years at Manchester City.

He only played once for Pep Guardiola before leaving on loan for Seville.

Since then, Nasri's career has been on a downward spiral, including having an 18-month ban imposed on him for exceeding legal doping limits for a drip he was given in the United States.

Nasri joined West Ham in January and could play against his former club for the first time tomorrow.

Guardiola said: "I’m happy he’s back. He is an exceptional player and I wanted us to be together but he decided to go to Seville. What I realised in the short time I knew him before and saw him here for City is the quality he has."

Manchester City

Ashed if he thought Liverpool are stuttering in the Premier League title race, Man City boss Pep Guardiola added: "They are still leading, so far they've been better than us, Tottenham and the other ones. Honestly, I didn’t watch the game against United.

"There was one period a month ago where in nine games we lost four. Only one team was stable during the season, it was Manchester City last season. We won a lot of games. But this kind of thing happens during the season.

"There are still 11 games to play, they are leading by one point. It is shorter than I expected a few weeks ago but still they are leading.

"We have to focus on what we have to do. The way they played, I honestly did not watch the game so I cannot give an opinion. Maybe I would not give you an opinion anyway."

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte will both miss the Blues' next few fixtures.

The pair both got injured in Sunday's EFL Cup final, with Fernandinho picking up a groin problem and Laporte hurting his hamstring.

Guardiola doesn't expect either to be back before next month's international break.

John Stones and Gabriel Jesus will both miss tomorrow's game, although they are nearing a return.

"Soon," was Guardiola's response when asked exactly when.

The City boss also said full-back Benjamin Mendy had returned to training and was fit to face the Hammers.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has just come out with some interesting stuff on the Premier League title race.

As the campaign enters its final two months, Guardiola feels the mental side is key.

"In the last two months the mentality makes the difference," he said ahead of tomorrow's game with West Ham.

"We have a good squad, a good second team,

"I want to see the desire that we want to win the title. I don’t care about the way we play. I want the smell that we can win."

Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri added that Marcos Alonso was not on the bench on Sunday as he did not want a left-back among the substitutes.

Sarri said that has also been the case with Emerson, who he feels is playing well at the moment and is in a good mental and physical condition.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri believes his side's performance in the Carabao Cup final showed he has his players' backing.

He asked: "Did you see the match on Sunday? So you have the answer. After the game is the same. I think better."

Asked if he felt the support of the players was now greater, Sarri said: "Yes."

"I am not under pressure," he added. "For me the pressure is a normal pressure."

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri said that the club's board took the decision to fine Kepa Arrizabalaga.

"I spoke with the goalkeeper, with Kepa, of course," he said. "Then we spoke altogether, because he said sorry to the technical staff, but it was not enough.

"Then he said sorry to his team-mates, to the club. I think he made a big mistake, but we need to be taller. We don't want to kill him. So there is a position from the club.

"After yesterday, for me the situation is finished," Sarri added. "He is a young player, he made a mistake, but stop.

"I am sure he understood he made a really big mistake. For me it's finished."

Chelsea

Some of today's papers reported that there is now a split in the Chelsea dressing room after Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted on Sunday.

But manager Maurizio Sarri has just said that all his players have spoken together and that his Spanish goalkeeper has apologised to his team-mates.

The Blues' boss didn't confirm if Kepa will keep his place though.

"I have to decide, maybe yes, maybe not," said Sarri. "It will be a decision for the group. For all the players."

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has said he hopes that Manuel Pellegrini gets the reception "he deserves" after the West Ham boss led City to the Premier League title in 2013-14. "

“He did an incredible job," said Guardiola. "The league he won, the way he played. It was a good team. I have a lot of respect for the people who played and managed here, and especially Manuel. He’s an excellent person, polite and shows respect. I don’t have doubts about that."

The Chilean returns to Etihad Stadium for the first time tomorrow, along with ex-City midfielder Samir Nasri, who won two league titles and a League Cup with the Blues before leaving them in August 2017.
