  1. Man City injury woepublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

Man City v West Ham (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

I listened to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer highlighting his injury problems earlier and I suspect there will be something similar from Pep Guardiola shortly.

Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho both got injured during Sunday’s EFL Cup final and are doubtful for tomorrow’s encounter with West Ham.

Not that Pep should be too concerned. He has won all six games against West Ham by a combined score of 22-3.

Rodgers to Leicester?published at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

#bbcfootball or text 81111 (UK only)

Rodgers is underrated. His time at Liverpool is remembered for 'failings'...I can't for the life of me think why developing a team to the point where they narrowly missed out on the league title amounts to a failing; not all 20 teams can be winners. Which brings me onto Leicester: a mid table team in the mid table...not sure this move is the right one for Brendan, but best of luck to him.

    Jason

I'm not a huge fan of Rogers and his portraits in his office, but it's good news for England and the youngsters in the LCFC squad.. feel for Celtic fans though.

Some team news from the Gunners now, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles is back in full training after illness.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (back) and Alex Iwobi (ankle) are both being assessed ahead of tomorrow's game, while Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding (both knee) and Danny Welbeck (ankle) remain long-term absentees.

  4. Another birthday boy...published at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

And get this, Nacho Monreal and Spurs striker Fernando Llorente were both born on 26 February in Pamplona - the city famous for the running of the bulls. It was just a year apart.

Monreal turns 33 today while Llorente is now 34.

However, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino would not reveal what referee Mike Dean had said to him during their altercation on the pitch after Saturday's game at Burnley.

"No, all that happened on the pitch stays on there," he said. "I think that is the most important, we need to accept that we are with our emotion.

"For me it's not important, I don't take it personally. When your heart rate is so high you need to be careful how you take words. All that happened on the pitch, I'll never translate off it."

He said: "Watching my behaviour afterwards on video, I need to accept the charge from the FA. I need to apologise to Mike Dean, I cannot behave in that way. It is not the way to behave and I am going to accept the charge.

"My behaviour was public and now I want to apologise in a public way. I need to apologise to him and all of the officials."

Rodgers to Leicester?published at 12:52 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

#bbcfootball or text 81111 (UK only)

Celtic are not the centre of the universe like some would have you believe. Rodgers is a top manager, he will be looking to use Leicester to show he can turn a mid PL side into a competitive side. I'd imagine he has ambition for a top 4 side again and unfortunately he has to prove it elsewhere as numerous SPL titles count for nothing these days.

    Chris

Anyone saying that going from Celtic to Leicester is a step down has never compared the standard between the Scottish and English top divisions. The Scottish Premier league is full of league 1 standard teams with the odd team that could compete in the Championship and in Celtic possibly a bottom half premier league side.

  10. All-English XIpublished at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

Think we can safely say this will never happen again....

Tomorrow will be 20 years since there has been a Premier League starting XI featuring 11 English players - Aston Villa for their home match against Coventry on 27 February, 1999.

John Gregory named a line-up of Michael Oakes, Steve Watson, Gareth Southgate, Dion Dublin, Simon Grayson, Ricardo Scimeca, Alan Wright, Lee Hendrie, Paul Merson, Ian Taylor and Julian Joachim.

Incidentally, the three subs used by Villa that day were also English – Mark Draper, Gareth Barry and Stan Collymore - but the goalscorers in Coventry's 4-1 win? A Dutchman and an Australian, obvs. George Boateng and John Aloisi scored two apiece.

  13. What's his goal? What can Leicester achieve?published at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    James Scowcroft
Former Leicester striker on BBC Radio 5 live

The Premier League is tough for any manager. You've got an elite top six which is very hard to break into.

Leicester produced one of the miracles of sport, winning the league a few years ago. They're not in too bad a position now, so what's his goal? What's Leicester's goal? What can they achieve?

They've got a very exciting, young squad, and I think the previous manager deserves a bit of credit for that. The style of play was criticised under Claude Puel but Brendan Rodgers will play a passing game, a patient game, as well., which hasn't been the Leicester way the last few years. They won the league with pace and speed, so it'll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Rodgers to Leicester?published at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

#bbcfootball or text 81111 (UK only)

Richard Browne: Quite bizarre that anyone would claim the EPL is a step down from the one team league in Scotland. Good luck to Brendan, it's a huge challenge.

David Tanser: Leicester City have been further into the Champions League than Celtic in recent years.

Kwong Tse: A good move for Brendan Rodgers if he does end up at Leicester. He nearly won the league with Liverpool. His teams plays football as it should be played. Any manager in the Premier League could walk into Celtic and win League no disrespect to other teams in Scotland.

  17. Exciting times aheadpublished at 12:01 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

    James Scowcroft
Former Leicester striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Leicester fans will be delighted. He's a very experienced manager and is doing a great job at Celtic. He's probably surprised a few people.

It's all happened quite quickly for Leicester but Claude Puel was under immense pressure. Now it looks like it could be exciting times ahead for Leicester.

  18. 'Sarri will not drop Kepa'published at 11:56 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February 2019

Chelsea v Tottenham (Wed, 20.00 GMT)

    The Times

Although Chelsea have fined Kepa Arrizabalaga a week's wages for refusing to be substituted during Sunday's Carabao Cup final defeat by Manchester City, the Times says the Spanish goalkeeper will keep his place against Spurs.
