  3. French media describe result as a 'cataclysm'published at 09:59 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2019

    Paris St-Germain 1-3 Man Utd (Agg 3-3)

Meanwhile, L'Equipe described the outcome as a "cataclysm" for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Journalist Damien Degorre asked: "Who [is] to blame? Gianluigi Buffon, for not managing to hold a harmless strike from Marcus Rashford, while Manchester United did not exist in this match?

"Kylian Mbappe, who had the ball at 2-2, alone against David De Gea, in the 84th minute? Thilo Kehrer, who had placed the same Lukaku and his team in orbit while the match had just started?

"Thomas Tuchel, who gave the feeling of suffering the end of the match and to be satisfied with this sufficient defeat by a (single) goal until the beginnings of the additional time?"

  4. 'PSG are cursed after unforgivable CL exit'published at 09:55 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2019

    Paris St-Germain 1-3 Man Utd (Agg 3-3)

Le Parisien described Paris St Germain's Champions League exit as "unforgivable" and said the club was "cursed".

Columnist Dominique Severac branded the result "an earthquake" and "an industrial accident" for PSG, writing in the French newspaper: "There was the 'remontada' (Barcelona's comeback against PSG) in 2017, there is now the trauma of 2019, confirming the club is cursed."

Severac added that United's winner was a "hellish cruelty, sending the capital club back to its demons, its mental fragility, its unlikely individual mistakes".

I was similarly on a date, I mucked up my dates and scheduled it for last night and when she said she had turned down a gig she had been offered to be with me I knew I couldn't suggest watching it in a pub. However, when her housemates mentioned the game she insisted I watched it and thank god. She's a good 'un!

Andrew: It was a penalty: 1. Because the ref said it was 2. Because it was under the current rules 3. Because OGS deserves the job Love it @ManUtd, external

JT: United should wait till the new season over to offer Ole a new contract. Otherwise their form might dip midway through like some other mid permanent signings by other clubs

Jonathan: Questionable penalty. But with the momentum United would have scored from the resulting corner anyway!

Vincenzo: Normal service has been resumed - playing attractive, attacking football and utilisation of Fergie Time.

Alex Tuck: United fans must be feeling absolutely over the moon this morning, and they've every right to be. Entertainment is back at Old Trafford and it's a lot more exciting than the boredom of the Mourinho years (Liverpool fan

Sulsimon: I must admit the VAR served us justice yesternight. Manchester United with Ole can go all the time way. Remember Stranger things have happened

  18. 'Penalty decision a disgrace' - Neymarpublished at 08:47 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2019

    Paris St-Germain 1-3 Man Utd (Agg 3-3)

We all know how VAR can divide opinion, but Neymar certainly didn't hold back with his after Marcus Rashford's 94th-minute spot-kick sealed the historic victory for Man Utd.

"How can it be a handball when it hits his back!" Neymar asked on Instagram.

"This is a disgrace, they put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR. There is no penalty," said the former Barcelona player, who missed both legs through injury.

    More penalty reaction is here.

You asked for a non United view. Well here's mine. How you can award a penalty when a shot is going 20 yards over the bar is beyond me. It shows the disparity between decision makers and people who've played the game. The rule should be simple. If there's no threat on the goal then it can't be a penalty. End. Of. Story.

Unfortunately, with every winner, there has to be a loser.

Going in to the game at the Parc de Princes, few could have predicted it would be PSG who would be knocked out of the Champions League.

Alas, Kylian Mbappe and co were left defeated both physically and emotionally in a cruel deja-vu to Real Madrid's exit 24 hours before.
