The lights are dimmed as the opening ceremony begins and we've already heard the wall of sound that will be created by this amazing arena's vast South Stand, where 17,500 supporters will be housed behind the goal.

Of all the top sides in the Premier League, Tottenham stand out as the one without a clear starting XI, where rotation rules the roost. That tells you the story. While every other team has identified 10-11 starters that are superior to the rest, at Spurs there is really only one irreplaceable player, Harry Kane.
The club's inert transfer policy has led to the same names being around for a long time and that has brought a closeness and cohesion to the squad.
But football teams are like families; familiarity can breed contempt. It also breeds the certainty that there isn't anyone about to be brought in to kick your feet away from under the table.
The result of this has been the losing of matches that should have been won.

No extreme weather in Manchester (for a change).
It's a bit chilly but I'm sure the members of the Etihad 'Tunnel Club' who are currently standing on the touchline are not complaining - there are no brollies required.
No extreme team changes by Cardiff boss Neil Warnock either.
Warnock threatened to play the club's under-23s, external tonight in the aftermath of his side's admittedly exhausting defeat by Chelsea on Sunday, but Josh Murphy and Victor Camarasa, both 24, are the youngest players in his starting XI.

Footballers like their routines and that has been massively disrupted for the Tottenham players tonight. Normally for new stadiums, clubs have a few pre-season games and people familarise themselves with the surroundings but tonight is a new start. The proof will be in the pudding over the next few games as to how they get on.

The lights go down - it's opening ceremony time! Expect a choir, lots of flag waving, etc.
Chelsea v Brighton (19:45 BST)
Speaking of spectacular - great to see this man get an overdue start for Chelsea tonight.
Tottenham v Crystal Palace (19:45 BST)
It does look brilliant, I must say. I'm watching helicopter shots as lights on the roof of the stadium flicker in time with the music.
Spectacular.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen as many fans in a stadium this far ahead of kick-off.
The south stand - with some 17,500 seats - is full already and finding its voice. It’s very loud!
U2’s acoustic consultants were involved In the stadium design. And it shows.
It’s Spurs' own version of Borussia Dortmund’s yellow wall. Does it have a name yet? It soon will, I bet.

Chelsea's victory at Cardiff on Sunday partially masks several issues that are threatening to bubble to the surface at Stamford Bridge.
Supporters' patience is seemingly wearing thin with Maurizio Sarri and yet amongst it all, a Champions League place is very possible.
Brighton also have a dotted line they intend to end above. They have games in hand on all those around them at the bottom, but the most recent home defeat to Southampton makes matters a little more nervy than they needed to be.
I'm sure Chris Hughton would take a positive result from just one of their two trips to London this week, what with Saturday's Wembley FA Cup semi-final also on the horizon.
David Pleat, Clive Allen, Garth - wall-to-wall Spurs legends at the game for this one.
Man City v Cardiff (19:45 BST)
City will go back to the top of the Premier League with a win tonight, while Tottenham and Chelsea will both hope to take advantage of Manchester United's Molineux meltdown...

Johnny: Nervous and emotional Spurs fan here. Tough game tonight against a solid outfit. 2-1 Spurs
Sulaimon: Seven changes by Sarri. He means serious business tonight and the fans get want they want as Callum Hudson-Odoi gets his first premier league start
David: Hoping Cardiff can do Liverpool a favour this evening, but not sure I'd put a bet on them getting a win or draw.

I think it's brilliant Phil Foden is starting toinght for Manchester City. My concern is how much football is he going to play next season and the one after? He is too good to be let out on loan but he is not quite good enough to guarantee a regular first team spot.
His chances have been limited but tonight is a very good opportunity to perform, and it may just give him a boost to get more minutes in the first team.

Fans were arriving early to take pictures and selfies with the stadium in the background.
Many are going straight into the ground to sample the atmosphere and find their new seat.
But some, after a two-year break, are heading to old haunts with the cafes and pubs along Tottenham High Road doing a brisk trade once again.

The first competitive game at this magnificent stadium and the anticipation among Spurs fans cannot be under-estimated.
Their new home is well worth the wait. It even smells new, rather like getting into a new car.

I feel very humble to be here this evening. The stadium is magnificent and for me to feel as if I'm part of the history of this is amazing. I've been here for half an hour and that golden cockerel which is beautifully lit means so much. As you look at the fans and their faces, there is a glow about finally being home. I just hope the team can complete their happiness.

If the game goes the way I would expect, with Manchester City dominating possession, then I would be surprised if Cardiff keep it competitive because of how much they gave on Sunday.
This game is not make or break for the Bluebirds, but their following two fixtures could be - at Burnley on 13 April and then at Brighton three days later.
Prediction: 4-0
