Sheffield United warm up at DeepdaleImage source, Rex Features

There were a few moments last weekend when Sheffield United looked like being in pole position for the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship.

However, they let a lead slip and lost to Bristol City, while closest challengers Leeds came from behind to beat Millwall.

Can they get back on track at Deepdale?

Preston's long unbeaten run ended at Reading a week ago, denting their play-off hopes, but they're still well in contention for a top-six finish.

Rotherham v Nottm Forest (15:00 BST)

Having lost their past two games and sitting third from bottom a point behind Millwall, Rotherham will be desperate for something out of this one and will hope Millwall slip up against West Brom to climb out of the relegation places.

The Millers are without a clean sheet in 13 home Championship games, the longest run in the division.

They face a Nottingham Forest side who still have their sights on a play-off place and will be hoping striker Daryl Murphy continues his good form against Rotherham. The Forest striker has scored five goals in his past five league appearances against them.

  4. Revenge for Bruce?published at 14:51 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Sheff Wed v Aston Villa (15:00 BST)

    Steve BruceImage source, Rex Features

Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce comes up against Aston Villa, the club which sacked him in October, at Hillsborough today.

Former Manchester United captain Bruce took Villa to the Championship play-off final last season, but was dismissed by the club after a run of only one win in nine matches.

Initially, results did not drastically improve under his successor Dean Smith, but Villa took maximum points from their five league games in March to climb into a play-off position.

The Owls still have play-off aspirations themselves - they will start today's match four points below sixth-placed Villa with seven games remaining this season.

  5. League Two previewpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Second-placed MK Dons host leaders Lincoln in League Two today.

Third-placed Bury have had a difficult week off the field, with reports of financial trouble coming out of Gigg Lane. The Shakers make the trip north to Carlisle today.

At the bottom, Notts County and Macclesfield have massive home games and Yeovil - who are only outside the drop zone on goal difference - go to Swindon.

    Bolton v Ipswich (15:00 BST)

University of Bolton StadiumImage source, Rex Features

We can confirm that Bolton's game with Ipswich is definitely ON, having looked in doubt on two occasions in the past few days.

Firstly, the region's Safety Advisory Group (SAG) issued a ban on fans entering the ground and that was only retracted once the SAG was satisfied that adequate safety provisions would be in place.

Then on Friday a "critical IT failure" at the University of Bolton Stadium put the game in question again, but all has been sorted and we can actually start talking about football again.

It's 23rd v 24th - Ipswich are all but down, while Bolton gave themselves some hope of survival by beating QPR last weekend.

  7. League One previewpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Luton will hope to extend their seven-point lead at the top of the table and their massively long unbeaten run when they host Blackpool today.

Second-placed Barnsley are at Burton, while closest challengers Sunderland and Portsmouth are also away from home.

Bradford are adrift at the bottom, but only seven points separate the 12 teams immediately above them.

    • AFC Wimbledon v Accrington Stanley
    • Bradford City v Doncaster Rovers
    • Burton Albion v Barnsley
    • Fleetwood Town v Southend United

  8. Pressure on Pulispublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Swansea v Middlesbrough (15:00 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

There's a fair bit of pressure on Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis, whose side have lost their past five matches in the Championship.

The travelling fans I spoke to outside the Liberty Stadium earlier are pessimistic about their team's chances of making the play-offs, having slipped down to eighth in the table, two points adrift of the top six.

The mood is even bleaker among Swans supporters following a season of drastic cost-cutting and fears of further such action this summer.

They still have a notional chance of making the play-offs but, with 10 points to make up, few seem to think that's realistic.

  9. Championship team news headlinespublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Here's some of the key team news across the Championship fixtures that kick-off at 15:00 BST today:

    • Birmingham welcome back Maikel Kieftenbeld after missing the loss to West Brom, while Leeds keeper Kiko Casilla returns after suspension.
    • Ex-Villa boss Steve Bruce starts Steven Fletcher for Sheffield Wednesday as they host Aston Villa, who have Henri Lansbury back on the bench.
    • Bristol City are without Korey Smith and Andreas Weimann, with Matty Taylor starting, while Wigan bring in Josh Windass and Cedric Kipre.
    • Preston make two changes to their side from last weekend with Alan Browne and Ryan Ledson both starting. Sheffield United make one change as Mark Duffy comes in for Jack O'Connell, who failed a late fitness test.
  10. Can Leeds respond to super Norwich?published at 14:39 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Birmingham v Leeds (15:00 BST)

    Patrick BamfordImage source, Rex Features

Bidding to move back to within five points of leaders Norwich after the Canaries' win earlier are second-placed Leeds, who face a tough-looking test of their promotion credentials in the West Midlands.

But their hosts Birmingham lost all five of their games in March and that bad streak - coupled with a nine-point deduction for breaching financial rules - sees Garry Monk's men occupy a nervy position in 18th, just five points above the relegation places.

That's not where they wanted to be ahead of back-to-back games against Leeds and Sheffield United, who are the next visitors to St Andrew's on Wednesday.

    FT: Norwich 4-0 QPR

Norwich striker Teemu Pukki told Sky Sports: "We were the better team today. I'm really proud (to have 26 league goals). It's been a unbelievable season for me.

"We still need to do our best in the final six games and we can't start celebrating anything yet. We need to be consistent every day."

Midfielder Kenny McLean: "We knew it was going to be a tough game. QPR are a good team and they're still not safe.

"But if we can play like that, I don't think anyone can hurt us. When the front four play like that, teams will struggle to live with us."

    Teemu Pukki

Several things are certain in life; death, taxes, me not picking today's Grand National winner and Teemu Pukki scoring a one-on-one.

The Norwich striker gallops onto a lofted ball over the top of the QPR defence and gives the 10-man Canaries a four-goal cushion.

Pukki has two goals today and is up to 26 league goals this season.
