    Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "The Premier League is vital for us and we've been discussing how to move the club forward, that doesn't mean x amount of money, but we will do some business at some point."

  2. Postpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March 2019

Solskjaer was just asked if he has any aims similar to Sir Alex Ferguson's famous pledge to 'knock Liverpool off their perch'.

    He wisely dodged that question.

He says he has already spoken to Sir Alex since the decision. He said it was one of the first calls he made.

  3. 'It's going to be a mountain to climb but we've climbed a few mountains before'published at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March 2019

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I'm just going to be myself as I've always been. I know the trade of course. I want us to lift trophies but I can't wait to get to the challenge of improving the squad.

"We have worked with them, for three months and the improvement is there to be seen. We know there is so much more to come from them.

"Every day in training the attitude has been fantastic but we know we've a long way to go. It's gong to be a mountain to climb but we've climbed a few mountains before."

    Manchester United

More from Solskjaer: "I don't think proud is the right word. I'm happy, I'm honoured, it's the start of something new. Now the hard work starts so it's not a moment to be proud in that respect."

  6. 'My ultimate dream'published at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March 2019

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, speaking after being appointed Manchester United boss permanently: "This has been my ultimate dream, maybe a naive dream but I've always had that dream in my mind.

"It's a huge, fantastic family of a football club and I'm so honoured to be given the responsibility."

  11. David Moyes' contractpublished at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March 2019

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

David Moyes was given a six-year contract when he was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor in 2013.

Amazingly, United are now onto their fourth manager during the timescale of that contract.

Between them, Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho won a Europa League, an FA Cup and an EFL Cup. At no stage have United competed for the title or got further than the last eight of the Champions League.

Solskjaer's task is to do better than that.

The scene is set for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first press conference as manager of Manchester United.

Solskjaer has been given a three year contract to do the job he has always dreamed of.

I don’t think there are going to be many questions about Saturday’s game against Watford.

Delighted Ole got the job. He needs 4 players in the summer and prioritise younger players- a RB, CB, CM and versatile (right preferred) attacker. Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Neves and Brooks for me.

Full-back Lucas Digne is fit for Saturday's trip to West Ham. He withdrew from the France squad during the international break.

  18. Mina injury 'serious'published at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 28 March 2019

West Ham v Everton (17:30 GMT)

    Everton

Everton boss Marco Silva is the latest Premier League manager to speak to the press today.

He has started his news conference by saying that defender Yerry Mina's hamstring injury, picked up on international duty, is "not good news".

    "It's serious," Silva said.

"It's not good for the player or the club and they need to support him to get back to fitness."

Silva adds that it was always a risk to play so many minutes in such a short space of time and did have discussions with the Colombia manager.

Silva says Mina's injury will not keep him out of the rest of the season, however.
