Rest easy Arsenal fans, I have ducked into a pub bathroom and changed into my lucky shirt, which I suspected we might need today while I was out and about. Now we play the waiting game...

Them's the rules. Arsenal's 14th corner is cleared away and Arsenal are making a feted treble sub.

    On: Kolasinac, Iwobi, Guendouzi

    Off: Lichtsteiner, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan

    This is a dreadful miss.

He does an elaborate Kung-Fu style hit and if you do that at six or seven yards out, you've got to score

How has he missed that?! By that much!

A cross comes to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the back post, he's free, he throws himself into an acrobatic strike but hammers it well wide!

Nathan Muir: Arsenal and Man United better watch out Wolves are coming for you next season!

As a Liverpool fan, I would love to revel in United's downfall. But we've had our dark days too and respect where respect is due. With the right man at the helm (jury's out on Ole), a club of United's spending power will be back in contention in no time. We were able to draw talent on reputation alone for a far few seasons. United will have the same draw, but some patience and big changes at the top are needed. Still a big club.

One of the arguments for the Premier League's competitive nature is 'anyone can beat anyone' but at the moment it's more like 'nobody can beat anyone.'

The teams chasing third and fourth are all stuttering over the line. That's a good effort though as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang volleys over the top from a corner.

Rob Elmore: Xhaka is a liability.

Silvio Di Fede: Emery is just an Europa League manager. So overrated. Arsenal haven't progressed a bit this season. Fact.

Goonerama: Xhaka gives away a needless pen/defensive error. Also, grass is green

It's turning into a good day for Chelsea, who would be guaranteed a Champions League place as it stands.

Well sloppy sloppy Arsenal and it's appalling defending from Granit Xhaka.

Wow, as cool as you like, Glenn Murray slides the ball to the keeper's left.

Unai Emery is prowling his technical area with a look of anguish on his face.

Manchester United messed it up earlier, surely Arsenal can't do the same?

  17. PENALTY to BRIGHTONpublished at 60 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Brighton

Solly March charges about 50 yards down the left wing, beats Granit Xhaka, who does the old 'putting my hands up, no contact' thing, and then as March goes past him he grabs a bit of shirt. Bizarre.

Christopher Heward: Hopefully Arsenal will finish 5th and then win the Europa League - if so, then 5 Premier League teams will be in the Champions League next year, with Europa League places taken by Man United and Wolves or Watford.

Peter: Arsenal finished with 63 points last season, so have made small progress - more important, the steady [Arsene dotage] decline appears to have been stopped
