    Everton 2-0 Burnley

As good a half as I've personally seen from Everton for a while (I've not seen them much recently before you start) - their good form is continuing.

    Burnley = horrid.

Idrissa Gueye into DCL, great hold-up play from the former Cobblers man. Back to Gueye, into Seamus Coleman, it's nice and fluent from Everton but Ben Mee is able to clear this time.

There are goals out there for Everton tonight. Burnley staggering about. Punch drunk.

Bernard then sends Gylfi Sigurdsson into the box and he finds a shot across goal which whistles past Tom Heaton's far post. Great play.

Bernard is now late on Ashley Westwood. Retribution for Schneiderlin? Bernard wouldn't be my first choice for a hatchet man for hire. Though he is built like Joe Pesci I suppose. Don't tell him he's funny.

My hopes for 40 shots on goal by full-time look a long way off now. We've come off the boil now to a gentle simmer. In fact there's another chance for Burnley as Robbie Brady heads wide from six yards out.

Not the finish from Lille that one...

Hefty challenge in midfield, 18 on 18. Ashley Westwood and Morgan Schneiderlin are both a bit high and out of control and Schneiderlin is left with nasty raking stud marks across his inner thigh.

Referee Chris Kavanagh books the Burnley man after seeing the evidence on Schneiderlin's leg. Ouch indeed.

  6. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 35 mins

    Everton 2-0 Burnley

What a finish! That's brilliantly taken by Ashley Barnes but he's a clear yard or two offside. No need for VAR for that one. Robbie Brady whips in a cross, Barnes is free at the back post and hooks it nicely across Jordan Pickford and in, like an East Lancs van Basten.

At the other end Dominic Calvert-Lewin then heads over the bar.

As it stands Everton are up to within a point of seventh-placed Wolves. Europa League dreams.

Joe Hart picking his teeth on the Burnley bench. Where will he be playing/not playing next season? A strange old business.

Gareth Southgate is at this game tonight by the way. Have a Bank Holiday off Sir!

Born in Belo Horizonte, schooled in Ukraine and now starring at Everton, via a 7-1 World Cup semi-final hiding for Brazil. Quite the varied career for Bernard so far. Next season could be a big one for him.

Talking about Marco Silva's summer signings - five out of six are almost ever present and among Everton's best players. Only Yerry Mina hasn't played the minutes you'd expect.

Richarlison hit the ground running but Bernard was a slow burner. He was working on his physicality and the pace needed.

Since Christmas he's been outstanding - at home and away which was unexpected for such a small guy. Everton players say he's a terrific character off the field as well as on it.

    Everton 2-0 Burnley

Burnley's first attack of any substance as Johann Gudmundsson gets away on the right and flashes in a low cross but former Burnley man Michael Keane is well placed to sweep it away to safety. Everton then counter really sharply, three touches takes them downfield and they win a corner.

That build-up was too slow earlier in the season. Everton finding their flow now.

I hate to be the bearer of bad Fantasy Football news but Everton's opener has now been given as a Ben Mee own goal. Harsh that. Must have been heading just off target by Richarlison originally.

Everton have had 10 shots, keep this up and we're on for 40 before the end of the game. Burnley striker Chris Wood has played one pass so far. Not a day to be a Clarets frontman at the moment. Feeding on scraps.

    Seamus Coleman

There we go! Relentless Everton attacking pays off. Lucas Digne lines up a howitzer from range, the ball moves a lot in the air but Tom Heaton should still do better. He can only palm it out into the goalmouth and Seamus Coleman is free to head into the back of the net.

Textbook ball watching from Charlie Taylor who lets Coleman past him to score. Richarlison was offside - Coleman wasn't...

    Ben Mee (OG)

Talk about deserved! Everton's utter dominance pays off as Gylfi Sigurdsson tees up Richarlison just outside of the D, the Brazilian eyes up a shot and lashes a left-footer goalbound, it deflects off the knee of Ben Mee and past Tom Heaton and in.

A celebratory knee slide in front of the Gwladys for the Everton number 30...

It's then given as a Mee own goal. Boooo.

Bernard away from his man on the left and into Idrissa Gueye, Gylfi Sigurdsson would be in on goal if he played it first time but he waits and the chance is gone. The Icelander is closed down and it's just a corner for the hosts, which comes to nothing.
