    Daily Mirror

There have been reports that Barcelona were in such a rush to leave Anfield last night that Lionel Messi was left behind by the team bus.

It wasn't quite as dramatic as that though, apparently Messi was held behind by anti-doping testers so made his own travel arrangements.

    Ajax v Tottenham (20:00 BST)

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris said the tie still remained a "massive opportunity for the club".

His team will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit in Amsterdam to progress.

"We're all excited to be a part of the semi-finals of the Champions League, but we don't want to stop here," he said. "We need to play full of energy and full of desire.

"Ajax have a little advantage and the only way to go through is to win - and that's the only way to prepare for the game.

"We need to try to find the right energy and try to learn from the first leg."

    Ajax v Tottenham (20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Ajax midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has been talking about tonight's match:

"Nobody expected Ajax to do this at the beginning of the season. They showed what they can do against Juventus and Real Madrid.

"They put you under pressure and they keep the ball which makes a big difference. They have fantastic talent.

"I played one year with Son Heung-min at Hamburg. He was a youngster but he was great.

"At the moment he’s one of the best players for Spurs. When Harry Kane is not on the pitch, Son plays even better."

Angus Robb: Got to agree with Steve 10:15 , Barca have Messi who, when a factor makes the difference. But he is losing 1% of his fitness, which makes a big difference, especially away from home. If Spurs somehow get through they are well capable of beating Liverpool, as are Ajax

Jed Michael: I’m Utd through and through but how can you not have a bit of a soft spot for Liverpool. There truly is something magic about Anfield on European nights like this one. Having said that I will be fully behind Ajax/spurs in the final...

Ian Purser: The game last night shows why I would choose Ronald over Messi every time. Ronald would have grabbed that game by the scruff of the neck and dragged his team over the line. Messi just disappeared.

Fahmeed Abid: No wonder Liverpool won yesterday. It was always gonna be a repeat of the 2005 Final, when Wijnaldum scored in the 54th and 56th minute, just like the goals in 2005

“I went to my local to watch the game last night, I’m very superstitious,” he said.

“I sat in the same seat I did when we got to Kiev last year.

“I was quietly confident. I never give up with Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has been absolutely fantastic.

“He’s been a leader and dragged the club from turmoil to a stage where people want to play for him. He instils his enthusiasm in everybody in that club.”

Rizwan: The fact that Messi said that he was exhausted after winning 3-0 at home in the first leg is the testament to the incredible team Klopp has built. Barca just couldn't handle Liverpool's pace.

    Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona

Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis at Gracenote has taken a in-depth look at just how rare it is to achieve what Liverpool did last night.

And how this season has already produced a number of memorable comebacks, to defy the odds.

    • Liverpool had a 4% chance of eliminating Barcelona prior to the match last night
    • Manchester United and Ajax began the knockout phase with home defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid respectively.
    • Ajax failed to win their first QF leg against Juventus but progressed after pulling off the win in Turin which was estimated at a 15%
    • Tottenham might have won their first leg 1-0 against Manchester City but their chance of progress at that stage was still only 27%, roughly the same as the club's 29% chance of overturning the 1-0 deficit in Ajax on Wednesday
