  1. 'It means so much' - Klopppublished at 08:40 British Summer Time 8 May 2019

    Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona

    Liverpool

More from Jurgen Klopp, who could hardly believes what his team had pulled off on a Tuesday night in May at a euphoric Anfield.

"It means so much to all of us," Klopp said.

"There are more important things in the world. But creating this emotional atmosphere together is so special. It's all about the players.

"The mix of potential and unbelievable heart is just a mix I never saw before. It shows what's possible in football. It's so nice."

"I said to the boys before 'I don't think it's possible but because it's you I think we have a chance' - they are really mentality giants. It's unbelievable," Klopp added.

"After the season we played, the games we had, the injuries we had now in this moment, if you go out there and ask who bet a penny on us, I don't think you would find a lot of people.

"We know this club is the mix of atmosphere, emotion, desire and football quality. Cut off one and it doesn't work."

Tom Smith: "Van Dijk can't handle Messi", Pique couldn't handle Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman was criticised after his performance in the first leg, where he struggled to contain Barcelona's attack.

The roles were reversed in the second leg, it seems

    Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona

In case you haven’t had a chance to catch up yet, here’s how the incredible victory came about:

Divock Origi gave Liverpool fans hope early on when he tapped home from close range after seven minutes.

After the break, substitute Georginio Wijnaldum scored twice in the space of 122 seconds. The Dutchman burst into the box to meet Trent Alexander Arnold's low cross and hammer his shot home.

Then Xherdan Shaqiri provided a cross which Wijnaldum headed home.

Origi struck again with the goal that would decide the tie on aggregate, after Alexander-Arnold caught the visitors' defence napping from a corner.

Oh, we do love a happy ending, Hien

Got wed the other day, thought Kompany had ruined the night. Wifey told me it would be 4 before the match. She fell asleep in my arms in 2nd half I screamed twice. Turns out happy ending when you're wife always right and what a lovely time to be a Liverpool fan.

We must be on a parallel earth, United fans praising Liverpool?? But seriously how can you not after what we saw. As a United fan I've seen my fair share of epic comebacks, but that was something special last night.

    Ryan, Chester

You can't be jealous of Liverpool. The only response is admiration. What an incredible game

    Ewan, London (Man City fan)

The greatest comeback I've ever seen is still the 2005 CL final. The greatest two-legged comeback for me is probably Barcelona vs PSG a couple of years ago. Last night slots comfortably in behind those two. Still slightly giddy this morning!

But fellow Reds fan Sacha Lord, who is a big name in the city and runs a number of events, including Parklife Festival, took a very different approach.

Martin Mannion: While fair play to Liverpool they were fortunate to come up against a Barcelona side that had likely their worst performance this season and most teams would have got something from that, can the bottler Klopp really win a final against a team that wants it?

David Whale: You couldn't write that, this is Netflix documentary worthy...not fiction, documentary. Madness! Well done @LFC, external. Can @SpursOfficial, external do something similar tonight? God I hope so but I just cant see it happening

Greg BS: Klopp has to take enormous credit for that performance last night, not to mention the whole season. Liverpool’s players were relentless, registering sprints all over the pitch, time and time again. They were doing it for the manager (and the badge, by proxy)

Probably for the best the person texting in threatening to call in sick left their name off.

But can the rest of you include it, and where you're from, for good measure, too?

The best thing about last night was Robertson's cheeky little comment about Suarez not being in the final in a post match interview. Well, that and somehow winning.

    Ed, Wirral

Can I call in sick to work? I stayed up most of the night trying to calm myself down after such an exciting match. Well done Liverpool. We have one hand firmly on the trophy. YNWA

I have an exam at 9am, was supposed to be studying last night but felt something special coming, sacrificed my nights sleep. Nothing has ever been so worth it!

"If I have to describe this club then it's a big heart and tonight it was pounding like crazy," he said. "You could hear it all over the world." Klopp was almost giddy in his BT Sport interview, checking it was past the watershed before swearing and saying he was happy to pay a fine. "The whole game was too much," he said. "Winning is difficult but with a clean sheet, I don't know how they did it."

Three-nil down from the first leg at the Nou Camp, all you can do is throw the kitchen sink at the Barca defence, and see what happens.

    This is what happened.

7 minutes: Divock Origi scores a close range tap-in

54 and 56 minutes: Substitute Georginio Wijnaldum scored twice in the space of 122 seconds

79 minutes: Origi converts and audacious Trent Alexander-Arnold corner to send Anfield in to dreamland
