  1. 'Settled Dutch midfield'published at 20:12 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands 0-0 England

Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It's a settled Dutch midfield and they are dominating the middle of the field which is a worry for England.

They have to get on top of Frenkie de Jong because they cannot allow him to dictate the game.

Get down! Marcus Rashford tracks Matthijs de Ligt as the defender runs down the wing but when Rashford makes a challenge the Ajax man (for now) just shrugs him to the floor.

    An absolute unit.

    Netherlands 0-0 England

The Netherlands are well on top at the moment, finding space out wide and rotating the ball much better. The midfield three is all over England's rather makeshift trio if we're being honest.

    Netherlands 0-0 England

Dutch midfielder Marten de Roon has completed all 20 of his passes in this match so far - the best passing rate of all players in the match.

I wonder why he didn't fancy staying at Tony Pulis' Boro?

  5. 'The Dutch have been better'published at 20:09 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands 0-0 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England have not settled and the Dutch have been the better side because they have looked after the ball better.

  6. 'Comfortable save'published at 20:08 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands 0-0 England

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Kyle Walker should not be letting Memphis Depay inside on his left foot, but he doesn't really get any power on it and it's a comfortable save for Jordan Pickford.

    Netherlands 0-0 England

Raheem Sterling has only had five touches so far. England need to get their skipper in the game - and Marcus Rashford nearly does actually, but the flag goes up.

  8. Scrappy start in Guimaraespublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Guimaraes

Lots of carelessness in possession from both England and the Netherlands - pitch seems a bit difficult after getting such a soaking but not much quality on show so far.

The England fans are belting out 'Shall we sing a song for you?'

I'd pay good money to see them try and do one chant in Dutch. Memphis Depay works some space on the left and gets a shot away but it's another easy one for Jordan Pickford to grasp.

Lovely to see, a full-back properly taking on his man. Ben Chilwell skins Denzel Dumfries on the outside and the the wardrobe-like defender just steps across and blocks him off. Dumfries lucky to not be booked there, but he deserves it for having such a great name.

    Netherlands 0-0 England

Ben Chilwell, 40s throwback, pumps the ball down the line, but it's plenty of Dutch possession for the moment. The men in orange look the more likely, although England won't mind hitting on the break with their greyhound front three.

Gary: Kane’s relegation to the bench is a strong call but sends a clear message that there are no celebrity favourites. Well done, Gareth Southgate.

Sean: Vvd and De Ligt. Name a better CB partnership

Interesting that Declan Rice is dropping back between the two centre-backs at times, a proper quarterback/sweeper role. Memphis Depay then sums up his maverick status by taking a great touch with his back to goal to wriggle away from cover, and then look up and spank/slice a left-footed pass clean out of play, a good 20 yards behind the overlapping Daley Blind.

From sublime to ridiculous inside three seconds.

  14. 'Depay delays too long'published at 19:59 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands 0-0 England

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

England get so lucky. Two players go for the same ball and the Netherlands are two v one, but Memphis Depay delays his shot too long and the chance is gone.

Chance! The Netherlands make a mess of a clear break away. I think it was Declan Rice who lost the ball, Gini Wijnaldum drove away and played in Memphis Depay on the left of the area, he should get a shot away but tries to come inside the last defender and loses out.

England look a bit ragged in transition.

First 10 gone. No real chances for either side but plenty to enjoy so far. It's a slick, slippy pitch.

The tempo is really high and they cannot keep this up for 90 minutes.

  18. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Netherlands 0-0 England

This is being played at 100mph! Kyle Walker nips in to win the ball back on halfway and there's the threat of a counter but he overhits his pass.

  19. 'Can Blind live with Sterling?'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands 0-0 England

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

All the play for England is coming down the Dutch left-hand side. You look at that battle between Daley Blind and Raheem Sterling and I just wonder if the former Manchester United defender can live with the England captain tonight?

Harry Maguire loses the ball on one of those driving runs forwards, that's dangerous, Steven Bergwijn chops inside on to his left foot and shoots early from 18 yards but it's tame and easy for Jordan Pickford to field it.
