England having a strong spell of possession now, but as soon as I say that Kyle Walker loses it in a dangerous area! Memphis Depay has a shot which is charged down. Could he have gone on?

    Netherlands 0-0 England

Great pressing from the front three from England as they force keeper Jasper Cillessen to slash the ball away. I think Raheem Sterling is the slowest member of that England front three, which is saying something.

We know the Dutch like to play good football and I'm sure they will take the game to England, but both teams will be very dangerous on the counter attack.

There's a minute's silence to remember former Uefa president Lennart Johansson, who oversaw the introduction of the Champions League, who died aged 89 following a short illness this week.

Ryan Babel starts for the Dutch - hair dyed bright red, he's a free agent as it stands. Not often you see that in international football.

I make Raheem Sterling the 24th youngest man to captain England - younger than Billy Wright, older than Rooney, Gerrard, Kane and Eric Dier!

Raheem Sterling leads England out for the first time - dwarfed by Virgil van Dijk to his left. Huge night for Sterling, who has come on quite a journey hasn't he?

It's been quite the turnaround for the Dutch. They were World Cup semi-finalists in 2014 but then failed to qualify for both the 2016 Euros and the World Cup last summer.

However, former Everton boss Ronald Koeman has overseen a bit of a revival - helped of course by Ajax pumping out an absolute payload of quality young players.

"We are people in Holland that are creative, also in football, and the technique of players is the base of our football," says Koeman, who won 78 caps for his country.

"It's about the quality, it's not about defending, it's not about Catenaccio - it's play to win and that style we need to keep."

  16. 'They were desperate to play'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands v England (19:45 BST)

Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a big challenge because we have improved from the time that we played England in a friendly [March 2018].

"England are strong in a good way. They have experience of playing in a World Cup and we do not but we have a good balance in the team. It's why we didn't really change the starting XI in the past few games.

"It's about confidence and carrying on doing what we have been doing. We only had two Champions League players and I said before that if you win titles, you don't really feel tired. They [Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum] were desperate to play tonight and they are experienced players. I gave that confidence to them and they said they were ready to play so it was no discussion.

"It's up to us but normally, some of the seven players (who play for Liverpool and Tottenham) will start for England."
