Well played, Ben Chilwell, gets out of dodge by beating two men in orange and gets the move going. Good ball then over the top to free Raheem Sterling, he's into the area but the flag goes up.

    Good spell for England.

    Netherlands 0-1 England

England 45 minutes away from a final. It may only be the Nations League but it would still be a landmark of sorts. However, they will have to get on top of the game a bit more if they are going to make it through.

We haven't looked after the ball well enough in the middle of the park so I would bring Jordan Henderson on for Fabian Delph if I was to make another change.

Harry Kane is coming on. He's already got the armband on as well. he replaces Marcus Rashford.

Before anyone starts criticising England they'd do well to remember the players that didn't start. It's almost a 2nd eleven.

Frenkie de Jong had more touches (47) than any other player in that half. He'll be joining up with his new Barca team-mates at the end of the month.

Fabian Delph and Declan Rice both completed 100% of their passes in that first half - they just didn't do that much with it.

It is not England's first-choice midfield, remember. And it was made to look so at times.

  9. 'Barkley has looked the brightest'published at 20:41 British Summer Time 6 June 2019

    Netherlands 0-1 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ross Barkley has looked the brightest of the three England midfielders because he has tried to get on the ball and be creative.

Andy: Clearly Chilwell should have gone off. Football needs to seriously look at rugby when it comes to head collisions.

Stuart: I see England are taking the Liverpool approach to this game - play the worst football you have all season, score a lucky penalty, then sit back and watch the opposition fail to score.

    Netherlands 0-1 England

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

There have not been enough clear cut chances for the Dutch, but the better side are behind. England have lacked rhythm, especially in the midfield, so I think Gareth Southgate has something to think about.

De Ligt had a few shaky moments. He's not the finished article just yet.

It's a golden opportunity for Matthijs de Ligt to make amends and it's a free header. He has to hit the target and he sees it all the way. He has had a very poor half by his standards.

    Netherlands 0-1 England

Shoddy from John Stones who doesn't know what to do with it at right-back and is robbed by Ryan Babel, Gini Wijnaldum eventually gets a shot away and it's deflected clear.

Matthijs de Ligt wins the header and puts it wide! Should score.

  17. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

Ben Chilwell does continue, takes the free-kick in fact. It's cleared away and I'm sure they'll have a better look at him during half time. Danny Rose was out warming up.

The doctors seem to be carrying out a proper concussion check on Ben Chilwell which is good to see.
