Wigan came from behind to beat Cardiff 3-2 at the DW Stadium and Lactics boss Paul Cook was delighted with his side's win.

"It was two teams who were genuinely trying to win a game of football," said Cook.

"The game had everything and sometimes as a manager, you count yourselves fortunate when you come out the right side of a game like that.

"There were so many incidents, so many talking points, and to take all three points against such a very strong team is massive for us.

"Cardiff are a very good team with very good players - and at any point they can change the dynamics of a game.

"Whenever you go a goal down, you'd be happy to take a point. To take all three points, you're absolutely delighted."

Now Alfa Semedo drives forward from midfield for Forest, rides a couple of challenges but fires over the bar into the Trent End.

That does increase the volume around the City Ground though. Can the home side rouse themselves for a thrilling finale?

Jordan Hugill's debut strike and Eberechi Eze's fine solo goal downed Stoke to give Mark Warburton a winning start to life as QPR manager.

"We have got some good young players, they just need some belief at how good they can be and that will come with confidence," said Warburton

"It is really pleasing to get the win, this is a tough place to come and it is a squad full of Premier League players.

"The dynamic changed after Stoke's goal but I thought we dealt with it well and the players, to a man, stood up to it.

"We made it hard for ourselves at the end, but we came through it and it was a great effort by the boys."

West Brom continue to hold Forest at arm's length.

For a side that looked so brittle defensively at times last season, this has been an impressive effort from Slaven Bilic's men.

Meanwhile, Albion make a change of their own with former Forest winger Oliver Burke replacing Kenneth Zohore.

Forest make an attacking change as midfielder Tiago Silva is replaced by Rafa Mir.

The Spain Under-21 international is on loan from Wolves and spent last season on loan at Las Palmas.

He had a difficult first half but Aro Muric might just have saved his side here.

Kyle Edwards burst into the box but sees his firm shot bravely blocked behind by the on-loan Forest keeper.

That will make him feel better. That could have been game over.

Promoted Charlton returned to life back in the Championship with victory over Blackburn Rovers, much to the delight of Addicks manager Lee Bowyer.

"I said 'go out there today and give me everything and prove to everyone that this is where you should be'," said Addicks boss Bowyer.

"We didn't play as well as we can in possession, we gave it away more than normal. Defensively we were solid. Tactically, we got it right.

"There'll be times we lose at home and away but it won't be through lack of effort.

"A lot of people are doubting us and obviously we're favourites to go down but with the group I have, they just keep fighting and battling."

Forest striker Lewis Grabban - a born goalscorer - has had fewer touches than anyone else in the game.

And of his 14 touches only one has been in the box.

Just a sign or two that the home fans are started to get a bit frustrated with their side.

Newly promoted Barnsley got off to a dream start in the Championship beating Fulham 1-0 at Oakwell.

"I'm very proud of my team and the performance, against the biggest team in the Championship we played well and we deserved to win," Tykes boss Daniel Stendel told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Fulham tried to change the result in the second half but we played well and we fought in every situation - we showed what we can achieve as a unit on the pitch.

"It's a good start for us to win in our first home game of the season, we have a young team and we need the supporters."
