  1. Cheerio for nowpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

I'll sign off now. We've got Rangers and Aberdeen to come on Thursday and then it all starts again for real on the domestic front.

The games are coming thick and fast, so buckle in for another ride.

    Good night.

  2. Premiership kick-off next for Celticpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

So, what is Neil Lennon looking forward to? Celtic are next in action on Saturday when they kick off the defence of their Premiership title at home to St Johnstone.

He will need a new central defensive pairing since Christopher Jullien and Jozo Simunovic are both suspended for that one.

As ever, BBC Scotland will be across all of the action.

  3. 'We don't want Sinclair to go'published at 20:43 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

Scott Sinclair was once again used as a substitute but Neil Lennon insists he does not want to lose the English winger, who scored 17 goals last season.

He said: “It’s just a little difficult period for Scott at the moment. It’s so early and a player with that experience is always so handy to have around. He’s got a great goal record and he’s had a great time at Celtic. So we don’t want him to go, that’s for sure.

“There are two or three positions that we’d like to strengthen. And I would imagine there might be a bit of coming and going with players. But at the minute we’re stable and it’s nice and calm. I’m looking forward to the weekend now."

  4. Lennon impressed by Shved cameopublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

Marian Shved was signed in January but quickly shipped out on loan, with previous manager Brendan Rodgers saying he was overrun with wingers.

However, the Ukrainian may have a bright future in Scotland after scoring a peach of a goal this evening.

"He almost scored with his first touch," said Neil Lennon. "He looked lively. It was a great goal. He showed what he’s capable of in a little cameo performance. He’s had to come back from a nagging injury and that will do him the world of good. A real confidence booster. Because we have to remember that he’s still a very young man and he’s away from home, settling in. You could see what it meant to him.”

  5. 'The depth is looking a lot better now'published at 20:32 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

Neil Lennon is not finished reshaping his squad but he's pleased with the way the team are developing.

He continues: “I’m not getting carried away but I’m pleased for the new boys coming in. Christopher [Jullien] had his first 90 minutes. Boli [Bolingoli] looked good. I thought Olivier Ntcham was outstanding considering that was his first real run out since he got back. So a lot of positives. A great goal from Marian [Shved] when he came on. So we’re in a good place at the minute. I’ve got [James] Forrest and [Callum] McGregor to factor in. [Kristoffer] Ajer and [Odsonne] Edoaurd to come back as well. So the depth is looking a lot better now.”

  6. 'Petrescu a shrewd manager'published at 20:29 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

Now Celtic manager Neil Lennon has his say on the next round opponents.

“They’re a really difficult side," he tells BBC Scotland. "They’ve negotiated their way beyond Maccabi Tel Aviv and have a very shrewd manager in Dan Petrescu. The good thing for me is that the first leg is away so hopefully we can get some type of result to take back to Celtic Park. We’ve done a lot of work on them already so we’ll be well prepared.”

  7. A quick look at Cluj...published at 20:26 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

The Romanians have reached the Champions League group stage on three occasions, most recently in 2012-13.

Last season, they were knocked out at this stage in qualifying and failed to make it into the Europa League groups.

But scoring twice to earn a draw in Tel Aviv tells us they are a dangerous side.

  8. 'We're going in the right direction'published at 20:24 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

Celtic manager Neil Lennon was in a buoyant mood after his side's comprehensive aggregate win.

He tells BBC Scotland: “We wanted to win the game tonight. So to win it 7-0 is pretty impressive. Considering we’re so early in our campaign, I couldn’t ask any more of the players.

"We had good control of the game, good chances, good quality football and two great goals. And it sets us up nicely for the start of the domestic campaign. The two ties have been negotiated very, very well so far.

"We know we have Cluj now, which will be a step up, but we’re going in the right direction. There’s no question of that."

  9. Rangers & Dons in action on Thursdaypublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

We've got more continental football on Thursday, with Rangers and Aberdeen in action in Europa League qualifying.

The Ibrox side take a 2-0 lead to Luxembourg against Progres Neiderkorn and will hope to complete their revenge mission for 2017's shock loss without too much fuss.

Aberdeen are also in a strong position, having drawn 1-1 away to Georgian side Chikhura Sachkhere.

Rangers kick-off at 18:30, with the game at Pittodrie starting at 19:45.

For Craig Gordon that clean sheet matters. Trust me. It matters for the defenders. They will pride themselves on clean sheets. So they'll be absolutely delighted.

  11. Shved makes mark with fine strikepublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

It looks like Marian Shved enjoyed that late goal on his Celtic debut.

His shot was a stunner too, pinged right into the opposite top corner.

Could the wee winger be a significant player this season? He's off to a pretty good start.

  12. 'Jullien's performance caught my eye'published at 20:05 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

What caught my eye was the performance of Christopher Jullien. I know Kalju had a few chances and Celtic got a little sloppy around the middle of the pitch but he showed all the qualities I would look for in a defender. He was talking, he was pushing the line up and he was taking control. He covered for Jozo Simunovic and stepped in to midfield with the ball. And he was a real threat in the box from set pieces.

  13. 'A lot of players getting good game time'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

Job done. A lot of players getting good game time. Olivier Ntcham, Scott Sinclair at the end and Christopher Jullien. That's the most important thing. When you spend that kind of money on a defender you're looking for him to be the leader at the back and it seems as though he's going to be that.

  14. Trip to Romania for Celticpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

FT: Nomme Kalju 0-2 Celtic (0-7)

Cluj it is. Dan Petrescu's side have fought out a 2-2 draw at Maccabi Tel Aviv for a 3-2 aggregate success.

The Romanians will be at home for the first leg against Celtic next week.

Oops! Scott Brown is robbed deep in his own half but big Peeter Klein doesn't have the pace to elude the Celtic skipper, who gets back to nip the ball away with his toe and save his own blushes.

Ntcham will be happy to get 80 minutes. He did okay. I thought he had a good first half, playing in that position off the striker. Good movement and a lot of good passing.
