It looks like a trip to Romania for Celtic in the next round as Mario Rondon gives Cluj a 2-1 lead in Tel Aviv. That's a 3-1 aggregate score in their favour with two away goals.

  2. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

The hosts bring on Max Mata and the New Zealand striker almost sets up a Celtic goal with his first wayward touch, his poor header falling to Mikey Johnston, who fires a rising shot just over the top.

When Celtic have so much possession Ntcham can set up and find little pockets of space. It's almost as if nobody can pick him up because Kalju have two in the middle of the pitch against Celtic's three.

Olivier Ntcham is running the show for Celtic. The Frenchman is spraying passes around as the hosts struggle to contain him.

He might think he needs to win Celtic fans over after being quoted over the summer saying he fancies a move away from Scotland.

Nir Bitton has a pop from long range and the shot takes an awkward skip off the turf in front of the keeper but Pavel Londak does well to get right behind it.

Celtic are doing what bigger European clubs have done to them in the past. Just completely closing their opponents down. They are in complete control

The scoreline tonight could be as emphatic as Celtic want it to be. It’s such a one-sided contest and Kalju are showing no signs of wanting to sit in deep and limit the damage. They’re very open and Celtic are able to attack almost at will - much to the delight of the couple of hundred fans behind Craig Gordon’s goal.

Uh-oh. Concern for Celtic as Leigh Griffiths clutches the back of his calf and looks in pain as he goes for a sit down near the corner flag, waiting for treatment.

The physio is quickly on the spot and is soon giving the thumbs up sign. The striker will be going straight back into the thick of things.

I like the movement off the ball. Lewis Morgan isn't just hugging the sideline. He's moving on the inside too. With one forward up front they can afford to do that. And it allows the full-backs to come further up the park and get involved. It's working well for Celtic

  10. Cluj hit right back in Israelpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

The home celebrations in Tel Aviv did not last long as Juan Emmanuel Culio rolls in a penalty for the visitors.

Advantage to the Romanians now with a vital away goal.

  11. Maccabi Tel Aviv level against Clujpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

Nick Blackman, formerly with Motherwell and Aberdeen, has scored for Maccabi Tel Aviv. That makes it 1-1 on aggregate over in Israel.

Great play from Olivier Ntcham in the number 10 position. He allowed a big space to open up and he took a second touch before eventually putting it in for Mikey Johnston to set up the goal. A great start for Celtic.

Waiting in the third qualifying round is the winner of tonight's Maccabi Tel Aviv v Cluj contest.

The Romanians, managed by former Chelsea defender Dan Petrescu, take a 1-0 lead to Israel.

English striker Nick Blackman, who had loan spells at Motherwell and Aberdeen, is in the home squad.

We'll be keeping a close eye on the score from the Netanya Stadium.

Corner to the hosts after some slack play from Celtic captain Scott Brown. Nothing to worry about for the visitors though as the referee's whistle sounds for some shoving off the ball.

Just to settle the nerves of the Nerviest of Nellies, I will point out that at no point in the history of Uefa competitions has a side ever lost a five-goal first-leg lead.

There have been a handful of four-goal recoveries over the years, including Zenit St Petersburg's 8-1 second-leg win over Dinamo Minsk last season and Barcelona's remarkable 6-1 turnaround against Paris St Germain in 2017.

Nomme Kalju, currently fourth in the Estonian top flight, are not in that class. Not even close. Not even close to being close.
