I’ve been at numerous Champions League ties with Celtic over the years, enjoying the crackling atmosphere at some of Europe’s top stadiums. Tonight is a little different. The 14,400-capacity national stadium is nowhere near full and even the Celtic fans, who normally travel in huge numbers, have largely eschewed this trip, saving their cash for what they hope will be an extensive European campaign.

Asked if there is a battle for the goalkeeper's gloves at Celtic, manager Neil Lennon makes it clear that Scott Bain is his number one.

"At the minute it's Scott's (jersey) because he's done nothing wrong in the time I've been here," he tells BBC Sportsound. "This is an opportunity for Craig Gordon, he's an excellent goalkeeper."

Scott Sinclair. Where is he? Last week Mikey Johnston and Lewis Morgan went on before him. He must be wondering what he has to do to get a game.

So, Celtic fans will get their first look at Frenchman Christopher Jullien this evening.

The 26-year-old central defender stands at an imposing 6ft, 5in and cost the Scottish champions a cool £7m from Toulouse.

At the time of his arrival at Celtic, France-based football reporter Matt Spiro told the BBC: "His great strength is his aerial ability. He is a towering presence, but is also excellent at timing his runs in to the opposition box at set pieces."

I was impressed with Anthony Ralston when he first got in to the team. He started to play a run of games and started to grow in confidence. I think he's better with the offensive side of the game, rather than the defensive.

This game has been switched to the 14,400-capacity A Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, across town from Kalju's bijou Hiiu Stadium, which normally handles crowds in the hundreds.

There are a few Celtic fans enjoying the sunshine in the Estonian capital, with some 300 visitors expected to attend.

Kristoffer Ajer nodded Celtic in front on 36 minutes and Ryan Christie swept in a penalty not long after but the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for Leigh Griffiths, who curled in a sumptuous free-kick in first-half stoppage-time to make his first start of 2019 a memorable one after a long spell out with personal problems.

The impressive Christie netted again after the break and Callum McGregor cracked in a beauty to round off a good night's work.

  9. 'Complacency is your enemy'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

With Celtic in such a commanding position and manager Neil Lennon giving nothing away about transfer targets, yesterday's media conference was short and sweet.

"Obviously we are in a very strong position but it's a game we want to win," said Lennon.

"Complacency is your enemy in a situation like this. We need to be as professional as we can. Some of the guys are hungry and need to play.

"We'll change some of the players but not over do it. The league campaign starts on Saturday and we want to keep the momentum going."

  10. Jullien & Gordon start for Celticpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

    Nomme Kalju v Celtic (18:00)

Christopher Jullien makes his debut appearance after his summer move from Toulouse and Craig Gordon is given a rare outing between the sticks.

This will be the Scotland goalkeeper's first game of 2019, having lost his place for club and country to Scott Bain.

Youngsters, Anthony Ralston, Mikey Johnston and Lewis Morgan get the chance to impress manager Neil Lennon, while Olivier Ntcham is the sixth and final change from last week's line-up.

James Forrest and Callum McGregor were left behind to rest up before the Premiership campaign kicks-off on Saturday, while Kristoffer Ajer, Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard drop to the bench, alongside Marian Shved, who could get on for his debut.

Celtic: Gordon, Ralston, Jullien, Simunovic, Bolingoli, Brown, Bitton, Ntcham, Johnston, Morgan, Griffiths.

Substitutes: Bain, Ajer, Hayes, Christie, Shved, Sinclair, Edouard.

  11. Celtic in control after comprehensive winpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 30 July 2019

    Nomme Kalju v Celtic (18:00)

Celtic take a very healthy 5-0 lead into this evening's meeting with Nomme Kalju of Estonia for the second leg of their Champions League qualifier.

Progress to the third round is about as close as we get to a foregone conclusion in sport, so this is about getting another 90 minutes in for sterner tests to come, professional pride and putting on a show for the travelling support.

We've got radio coverage from Tallinn and text updates, so stay with us as the action unfolds.
