The pocket of City fans in a corner of Goodison Park were still celebrating seeing their side score when Ederson was called into action for the first time, and they responded with a first edition of 'his' song (to the tune of Oasis classic 'She's Electric').

But that immediate response from Everton was enough to get the home fans off their seats and roaring their players on, and the noises from the stands have been generally pretty positive so far.

Their team may be behind but only time they are audibly annoyed is when they have possession in the City half and the ball goes backwards, not forwards.

Kevin de Bruyne fires in another dangerous cross that Jordan Pickford manages to get a hand to to push away. Manchester City snaffle up the loose ball, though as Riyad Mahrez hits a low strike straight at Pickford.

City break so quick, Everton need to watch that. You literally see one or two passes and they are in front of Jordan Pickford and having a shot. At the moment Everton cannot seem to keep the ball.

Richarlison is Everton's most dangerous player - always looking to make something happen and he leads another attack by the home side but it ends in disappointment as Michael Keane overhits his ball into the box. A few groans from the home fans, but the hosts are having a go at least.

Ederson has to dive to push away a deflected Richarlison strike.

But Everton's attack leaves them open to the counter, which Manchester City almost take full advantage of as the ball is worked to Riyad Mahrez, but his shot is straight at Jordan Pickford.

Good response by Everton as Ederson has to gather at the second attempt from a powerful Gylfi Sigurdsson strike.

The brilliance of Manchester City - they are just world class. You know as soon as they attack like that it will lead to a shot on target and Gabriel Jesus was not going to miss from there.

Kevin de Bruyne is dispossessed - you don't say that often - and Manchester City are almost punished as Lucas Digne squares to Gylfi Sigurdsson inside the box but his shot is blocked.

Risky football from Everton as they play it out from the back, putting their defenders under immediate pressure. The crowd express their frustration, which is only relieved when someone hits it long.

The Everton defence appears to panic every time Manchester City come forward. They have got good numbers in the box, though, which makes it difficult for City's players to find team-mates.

Raheem Sterling is the latest to try and dance his way through the maze of Everton players but his ball across the face of goal is cleared.
