We'll have reaction from Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes as and when we get it.

Rangers hit four in Denmark to all but secure their place in the Europa League play-off round.

The Dons face a sterner test, as they'll seek to overturn a 2-0 deficit when they host Rijeka at Pittodrie next week.

Thanks for your company tonight. We're back on Saturday for another Premiership extravaganza. Cheers.

  2. What's next in the Europa League?published at 21:25

Should Aberdeen overcome a 2-0 deficit, they will face either Cypriot side AEK Larnaca or KAA Gent of Belgium in the play-off round.

For Rangers, the prize of seeing off FC Midtjylland next week will be Legia Warsaw or Atromitos.

  3. 'Close to perfect performance' - Gerrardpublished at 21:22

    FT: FC Midtjylland 2-4 Rangers

Steven Gerrard on Rangers TV: "I'm proud of the performance. Everyone to a man was fantastic tonight. It's a great result but it's only half-time and there's still a lot of work to do.

"We need to carry out the gameplan in the second leg exactly like the boys did it tonight.

"We were very close to a perfect performance."

Derek McInnes picked an exciting looking team and then they played negatively. A positive team selection but a negative gameplan. I was really surprised and disappointed with the way Aberdeen played. They offered very little in attack and were very passive going forward. There were a lot of players on that pitch with a lot of danger about them and we saw nothing of it.

Aberdeen never showed any of their attacking flair that has been such a big part of their campaign so far. You sometimes set up in Europe to not concede and try to be difficult to break down. But if you can't do that, still concede and then offer nothing to the game offensively then it turns into a disappointment.

Rangers were ruthless tonight and their goals were outstanding. There were some brilliant individual performances. To go away from home and score four goals against a team we thought could be tricky, that was brilliant.

Aberdeen will be disappointed with the performance they gave this evening. I don't think that was a true reflection of how they have played through pre-season and through the early Europa League games

The only negatives for Rangers are the goals they conceded, both of which were quite sloppy. But Rangers grew into the game and finished it very strongly. Jordan Jones was superb tonight - especially when you can carry the ball such a long distance

Michael Stewart: Fantastic results for Rangers away from home in Europe. Scoring four goals is a huge confidence builder. Steady performance at Ibrox and Scotland should have at least one team in the play-off round.

  10. FULL-TIME HNK Rijeka 2-0 Aberdeenpublished at 20:52

An Antonio-Mirko Colak penalty and a predatory strike by Robert Muric secures victory for Rijeka. The result will test Aberdeen's impressive home form when they seek to overturn a two-goal deficit in the second leg at Pittodrie.

In truth, the Dons showed precious little in front of goal.

He was late into the challenge. But the FC Midtjylland players know he's a hot head. It's not just one running in, there's four or five wanting him booked and wanting to get involved. He was a bit daft there from the Rangers striker and he needs to learn. But we've said that for the past season or two about him

It's like the Jimmy Calderwood days at Aberdeen: if his team were behind he'd just go 2-4-4 and all-out attack. It's a bit like that now for FC Midtjylland, just get bodies forward and leave two at the back. They are vulnerable on the attack thought that way.

  20. HNK Rijeka 1-0 Aberdeenpublished at 79 mins

Scott Wright and Dean Campbell are on the pitch for Aberdeen and the away side suddenly look far more threatening up front. That may be down to Rijeka deciding they're content with a one-goal lead but it's perhaps the first time we've seen any genuine attacking intent from Derek McInnes' side tonight.
