Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is taking FC Midtjylland counterpart Kenneth Andersen's views with the proverbial pinch of salt.

Responding to Andersen's suggestion that Rangers will handle the pressure in Denmark, Gerrard said: "I'm not really interested in their manager's predictions or opinions. It's not important.

"My focus is on my own players. They are at home. We're the away team and we'll come with a gameplan, then we'll see.

"I think he's trying to put pressure on our side but I don't think you can put any more pressure on me or our side, because we represent Rangers and that always comes with pressure."

Derek McInnes says there is "a degree of anger" at other clubs following uncertainty over Scott McKenna's Aberdeen future.

McKenna flew to Croatia with the Pittodrie club on Wednesday two days after submitting a transfer request.

The Scotland defender, 22, has been the subject of failed bids from Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest.

"Nothing has changed with Scott and unless someone tells me differently, he is playing," said the Aberdeen boss.

"I think clubs have had every opportunity to put their best foot forward over the last few weeks. Any club who is trying to do a deal today has no consideration for us and total disregard for us on the eve of such an important game."

How would a draw for the Dons in Croatia be viewed? Not too shabby, according to midfielder Lewis Ferguson.

"A positive result over here, it could be a draw or getting an away goal like a couple of weeks ago when we were in Georgia and taking the draw back to Pittodrie," he said.

"That really suited us and it was a positive result because we know what we're capable of at Pittodrie as everybody has seen over the last couple of games.

"Last week [the 5-0 win over Chikhura] we were difference class," Ferguson told Aberdeen's Red TV. "The energy, the tempo about us, the other team couldn't really live with it.

"Sunday [3-2 win over Hearts] was difficult again but we managed to get through it with three points. It tells you a lot about the team and the squad we've got. Even the boys on the bench as you see Ryan Hedges and Niall McGinn come on and change the game."

Steven Gerrard says Rangers are "ready for the challenge" posed by FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.

Gerrard concedes that tonight's first leg will be a "step-up" from what his side have faced so far in the competition this season.

Having come through ties in Gibraltar and Luxembourg, Gerrard expects a tough night at the MCH Arena in the first leg of the third qualifying round.

"We are right up for this challenge and it is over two games," said Gerrard.

"It's important we do everything we can to try to set it up for Ibrox the week after."

How would Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes assess his side's start to the season?

"I've been pleased with some of the performances," he says. "At this stage of the season it's impossible for any team, including ourselves, only five games in, to be at our best.

"But our home performances, in particular, have been very strong. I'm delighted with how the new players have settled.

"I'm pleased with how we've negotiated the previous two [Europa League qualifying] rounds, but like any cup competition, the opponent gets stronger as you go through it.

"We'll need to improve again to try to give ourselves the best chance of getting through this tie against Rijeka. We're not daunted or fazed by the challenge we have - we take it on and hope that we deliver two strong performances.

"We have a healthy regard for Rijeka and we have a good hand on the type of team they are."

Zak Vyner is on the bench for Aberdeen ahead of tonight's Europa League qualifier against Rijeka after signing on a season-long loan from Bristol City.

The 22-year-old defender has joined up with the Dons squad in Croatia and is eligible after being registered with Uefa before Wednesday evening's deadline.
