    Well, it's been emotional.

Rangers romped into the Europa League play-off round with a convincing win over Midtjylland and continue to look impressive this season.

For Aberdeen, the least said the better.

Thanks for joining me throughout the evening. Despite having Callum McGregor in goal for Rangers for 15 seconds and running out of midget gems at half-time, I'll take comfort in the fact I don't have to write the word Midtjylland again for quite some time.

    Cheerio.

  2. 'There has to be more responsibility'published at 22:14 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    FT: Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4)

Derek McInnes continued: "I think the game is done when we go to 10 men effectively. Everything after that is unfair on the team.

"We never even gave ourselves a chance to ask the question. I thought we didn't play our way into the game. We had a lot of young players tonight. We made some poor decisions. The team was right. The team that started I felt could go and get the job done. But we just never gave ourselves a chance.

"Over the two legs we haven't shown enough and that's why we're out. I thought we had a bigger and better performance than tonight. We've got to judge it before the sending off.

"I think we've got a good squad here but there has to be more responsibility for the decision making than there was tonight.

"We'll be ready for the game on Sunday. There'll be a lot of expectation on us to do well in the cups this year. We'll go down to Dundee energised and refocused to try and get the club to another cup final and hopefully go one better and win the club a trophy."

  3. 'Such a poor refereeing performance'published at 22:08 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    FT: Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes told BBC Sportsound: "We had a lot of belief we could get the game going our way. It was such a poor start from us, looked a bit too edgy. We allowed them the opportunity to break on us.

"It's such an unusual circumstance and then 15 minutes 1-0 down and down to 10 men and the game is effectively over.

"Such a poor refereeing performance. I've never seen a red card that early for two challenges. Some challenges from our opponents tonight that wasn't even a yellow card offence. I find it really bizarre how he can show Funso Ojo a red card in that situation."

So, after just over a month of European qualifiers, we have two teams progressing into the play-off round of the Europa League as Kilmarnock and Aberdeen drop out.

    Can they both get through?

Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no...

    FT: Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4)

It says a lot for the standard of the second half that there was just one shot at goal and two corners - all from Rijeka.Though that was still a better second-half showing from Aberdeen than the first one, which is about as positive as you can be.

While others seem to be stuttering in Europe, if anything Rangers are getting stronger.

Progres Niederkorn were held off with relative easy, and over the 180 minutes against Midtjylland Steven Gerrard's men looked in complete control. The response to losing the odd goal in both legs will please the Rangers manager.

Now just two games against Legia Warsaw stand between them and the Europa League group stage.

There was a game plan there but they couldn't have got off to a worse start by losing a goal, then a player, then another goal... Rijeka are a good side and took their goals well. They've been in control of the game, dictated the game and the pace. Worthy winners on the night again.

The boos rang out at Pittodrie after a night to forget for Aberdeen as they crashed out of the Europa League.

The Dons needed to be full of energy, clinical up front and solid at the back - they were none of the above. Everything that could go wrong for them, did.

The only positive was that Rijeka eased off a bit after the break.

Derek McInnes will now need to ensure there is no hangover from this continental home humbling when they return to domestic matters at Dundee in the League Cup on Sunday.

    Rangers 3-1 Midtjylland (7-3)

Almost goal of the night at Ibrox. Great build up play eventually results in a pull back from Jordan Jones on the right. It's a bit behind Scott Arfield, but the former Burnley man flicks his boot out as he tries a back heel goal. Unfortunately for him, Hansen saves.

  18. Morelos crashes out at Ibroxpublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Rangers 3-1 Midtjylland (7-3)

Worrying scenes at Ibrox. Alfredo Morelos runs on to a through pass from Greg Docherty with a prodded shot well saved. However, his momentum takes him beyond the byeline and crashing off the park.

Jermain Defoe replaces the Colombian who receives a standing ovation as he walks back around the pitch.

It's difficult to find anything to talk about positively in terms of Aberdeen's performance. Simply because they're just sitting back, not making any real effort to get up the park like it's a training session for them. The manager has decided, and I think the fans have decided now as well, it's time to leave. Our producer should probably be thinking along the same lines.

  20. Any guesses?published at 21:21 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4)

Curtis Main receives the ball a couple of yards inside his own half, turns and volleys the ball forward, which, eventually, makes its way towards the Rijeka goalkeeper.

What he was trying is anyone's guess. Does it count as an attempt at goal?
