    Rangers 0-0 Midtjylland

And Midtjylland inches from a shock lead at Ibrox. Mikael Mikael is played in after a quick interchange with Connor Goldson scampering to keep up. Anderson shoots across Allan McGregor and the ball trundles a whisker by the far post.

Andrew Considine makes a great challenge to deny Maxwell Acosty on the edge of the box after the Ghanian scampers past two red shirts and bears down on goal.

The important thing is it's half-time, it's 2-0 and there's time to turn things around. Derek [McInnes] is a shrewd manager, he'll go about it the right way. Early pressure is important. It's on a knife edge and that's the way it's going to be tonight, and it could swing about dramatically. But Aberdeen are scoring goals so there's no reason they shouldn't be going into this with confidence.

  8. 'They think it's all over'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Aberdeen v Rijeka (0-2) (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says he had already heard some of the Rijeka staff admit they think they are already through.

He told BBC Scotland: "A few of their background staff let slip last night, talking about their plans to go to Belgium or wherever next week. But on the football front their manager has already said there's work to do. If just one or two coast it thinking the job is done then it's up to us to make them think differently during the game.

"We're all kicking ourselves we came back with a 2-0 reverse. Watching it back it didn't feel like a 2-0 loss.

"Hopefully we get the first goal and then we've time to go and get that all important second goal."

  9. Celtic defeat 'a warning' - Gerrardpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Rangers v Midtjylland (4-2) (19:45)

Speaking ahead of tonight's game, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard cited Celtic's Champions League demise as a warning that their own tie is very much still in the balance.

"What last night shows is that European ties are never over, even when you get a positive result in the first leg," said Rangers manager Gerrard.

"Some of these teams that people don't know much about - Cluj from Romania, for example, or Midtjylland from Denmark - they carry a huge threat.

    Steven GerrardImage source, SNS

"They're so desperate for financial reasons to progress, like most of us, so my players need to take note of last night and make sure we deal with our second leg much better.

"All the Scottish teams need to do as well as we can to improve the coefficient and give ourselves an advantage in these European competitions. From that aspect (Celtic's defeat) is very disappointing.

"But for me, I'm the manager of Glasgow Rangers and my focus is on and the challenges that face us."

  10. Where's the burds?published at 19:33 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Aberdeen v Rijeka (0-2) (19:45)

Anyone who tells you football journalism is all about the glamour is a liar.

A point perfectly proven in the Pittodrie press box earlier by the Scottish Daily Mail's John Greechan who not only has to wrestle with dodgy power points and dropping wifi signals, but rogue seagulls as well.

Does this mean Aberdeen will get into a flap tonight? Sorry...

  16. Arfield, Morelos start at Ibroxpublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Rangers v Midtjylland (4-2) (19:45)

Despite thumping Hibs 6-1 on Sunday, Steven Gerrard has made a number of changes for tonight's clash at Ibrox.

The defensive line remains the same, however in Rangers' midfield trio Joe Aribo has made way for Glen Kamara.

Up front, Sheyi Ojo keeps his spot on the right but Jordan Jones has been dropped for Scott Arfield and Alfredo Morelos comes in for Jermain Defoe.

  17. Rangers ready to rockpublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Rangers v Midtjylland (4-2) (19:45)

While Aberdeen aim to overcome a two-goal deficit at Pittodrie, Rangers will be looking to protect one at Ibrox.

Barring a suspect 10-minute period in Denmark last week, Steven Gerrard's men turned in a terrific performance against Erik Sviatchenko & Co, leaving them within touching distance of the Europa League play-off round.

Not only that, but a 6-1 rout of Hibernian has only boosted confidence in the Rangers camp.

Can they stay on track and go through?

Thumbs up for yes, down for no...

  18. One down, one faltering, two leftpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Aberdeen v Rijeka (0-2) (19:45)

Celtic's descent into the Europa League and Kilmarnock's catastrophic collapse against Connah's Quay Nomads means only Aberdeen and Rangers are left in the European competition they started in.

Aberdeen face a tough ask to not join Killie on the Euro scrapheap, though. A 2-0 defeat was brought back from Rijeka last week, and Derek McInnes' side will need to go some to overcome the Croatians at Pittodrie tonight.

    Aberdeen St MirrenImage source, SNS

Dons fans will be even less optimistic after Sunday's 1-0 defeat to St Mirren.

What do you think? Will Aberdeen do it?

Give us a thumbs up for yes, down for no...

  19. Nightmare on Kerrydale Streetpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

Celtic returned from Romania last week with a precious away goal in a 1-1 draw with Cluj. At the time, it appeared it would have been the perfect platform for Neil Lennon's men to keep it tight at the back at Celtic park and perhaps nick a goal or two at the other end to ease nerves.

As it transpired, a 4-3 defeat on the night sent the Scottish champions tumbling out of the Champions League qualifiers.

What does it mean for the Parkhead side in terms of cash? Well, find out HERE.
