  1. Horror tacklepublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Rangers 3-1 Midtjylland (7-3)

Ouch. Sory Kaba for Midtjylland is booked for a late, late challenge on Allan McGregor. The ball is loose and the Rangers keeper goes down to smother, but Kaba doesn't hold back with a crunching boot to the chest. No complaints with a booking, arguably should have been a red.

The game has just lost any energy, it's almost a training match. Both teams have likely got an eye on the weekend and are trying to save their legs. It seems as though they've both accepted the tie is over, there's not much left in it and let's just run the clock down.

It's to be expected. It's difficult for the Aberdeen players to get themselves up for it. When Rijeka get the ball they're pretty confident on it, but when Aberdeen get it there's a nervousness in the build-up play from them. You have to expect that with the way the game has gone, being down to 10 men and the atmosphere inside Pittodrie tonight. I expected a lively crowd but it's anything but.

There are 15,246 fans at Pittodrie tonight - 62 of them will be going home happy - the small band of Rijeka supporters who have made the trip to Scotland. They are making plenty of noise, and must be pinching themselves about how well tonight has gone for their side.

  6. Croatians almost make it threepublished at 21:03 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4)

Rijeka are unlucky not to go three up. Shay Logan does well to get to a cross and nod it wide, with two white shirts waiting at the back post.

Then goalkeeper Joe Lewis hurts himself as he claws away the corner kick.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:02 British Summer Time 15 August 2019

    Rangers 3-0 Midtjylland (7-2)

What a save from Allan McGregor.

Out of nowhere a ball across the six-yard box reaches Wikheim but from pointblank range the former Scotland goalkeeper gets down to save.

Don't think it would have made too much of a difference to the outcome, but still.

The crowd are getting restless. But as good as Rijeka have been going forward, they've been very disciplined defensively.

Jon Gallagher races forward, gets swarmed by white shirts, and the chance goes. No-one in red could keep up with him to offer any support.

    What a display this is.

Great work from Ojo on the left again carves open the Midtjylland defence. A wicked ball is whipped across goal and who else but Morelos is there to smash it in at the near post.

This could be anything. Place your bets.

It's unlikely to be something Aberdeen need to concern themselves with, but at half-time Gent are drawing 0-0 at home to AEK Larnaca, meaning the Belgians, as it stands, are going through on away goals to meet the winner of this match.

I wouldn't book your flights just yet.

Some of the fans are complaining about the referee, giving him a hard time. And I can understand their frustration but at the same time I think Sam Cosgrove could've been shown a second yellow and things really could have gone from bad to worse. It's just about keeping the scoreline to a reasonable amount now, Rijeka don't need to do anything as they've control of the game. It would need to be something spectacular to even give the fans and players any hope.

    HT: Aberdeen 0-2 Rijeka (0-4)

Aberdeen had started to pass the ball about their own half before the break but it's been grim stufg. They look reluctant to cross the halfway line and try to attack Rijeka, knowing their penchant for losing possession and being caught on the counter has been their undoing tonight.

Before the half-time whistle they did get forward, and Ryan Hedges tried a long range shot which looked to be going wide but at least forces the goalkeeper to push it away.

But that is as close as Aberdeen have come in a miserable 45 minutes for them.

Funso Ojo has only played six games for Aberdeen, yet already has five yellow cards. Is he proving to be a bit of a liability for the Dons?

In contrast, he only received one yellow at Scunthorpe in 40 appearances last season.
