Re: Gary 16.26 - Henderson one of the most underrated players in the Prem imo. And that's coming from a Newcastle fan!

    Jake

Really hope Mr Southgate has one eye on the Kosovo game with his team selection!! And Gary 16:26, get a football education or at least watch EVERY game Henderson plays for Liverpool. He has been outstanding in the last year and does drive us forward and protect our defence!! His passing has been superb as well.

Marcus Rashford was asked by BBC 5 Live how he judges himself: "Scoring goals is always the aim. Growing up what made me fall in love with the game was watching players doing exciting things.

"To an extent even if you play well but don’t score a goal you go home and you are not really feeling too good about yourself. When you score a goal there is a smile on your face and that’s why people love this sport."

John Franks: What happened to getting in the national team on merit? Shocking selection let's hope it doesn't backfire!

Shame that Trent Alexander-Arnold has not been picked as a nod to the future rather than reverting back to Kieran Trippier.

And in-form James Maddison must wait for his chance as Ross Barkley gets the nod.

It's a strong, conservative selection by England manager Gareth Southgate.

"But I am not really someone who looks back: the goals have happened, the performances have happened now I am looking forward to what I can do in the coming games."

England and Manchester United striker Marcus RashfordImage source, Getty Images

England and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford fears football is "going backwards rather than forwards" in the fight against racism.

Rashford was racially abused on social media after missing a penalty in the defeat by Crystal Palace in August.

There have been similar incidents involving Paul Pogba and Tammy Abraham, while Romelu Lukaku was recently subjected to racist chanting.

"To see it spike in the last couple of months is unbelievable," said Rashford.

"I have always said, the more we speak about it, it doesn't have an impact - there are examples where people have spoken out and nothing has really changed.

"We want to nip it in the bud."

England return to Euro 2020 qualifying duty with a home double header against Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday and Kosovo at St Mary's in Southampton on Tuesday - two fixtures that should not present huge obstacles on the road to next summer's showpiece.

Gareth Southgate's side still, however, face serious questions after falling short once more against the Netherlands in the semi-final of the inaugural Uefa Nations League - so what key issues will be on the agenda over this next international period?

Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier is preferred to Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, while Marcus Rashford starts on the wing instead of Jadon Sancho. Harry Kane captains the team.

Uncapped Tyrone Mings, Mason Mount and James Maddison are all on the bench,

England XI: Pickford, Trippier, Rose, Keane, Maguire, Rice, Henderson, Barkley, Sterling, Rashford, Kane.

There is nothing resembling a household name in the Bulgaria side. Naturalised Brazilian midfielder Wanderson makes his international debut at the age of 31.
