Oooofff! That's a fine goal and Angel di Maria is getting himself off the Christmas card list at the Bernabeu!

Fantastic finish this one. One touch to set himself 22 yards out, one to bend the ball in.

Harrison Short: And to think there was an argument as to whether Courtois was better than De Gea..

Nick James: You know when a club sells a player, no one can see why but they end up proving to everyone why they were right to sell them? Well...Courtois.

I've been impressed with Shakhtar Donetsk, the way they move the ball around. They've been patient and had the confidence to move the ball in tight areas. But at what point are they going to go into Manchester City's penalty area and test this defence?

That's what he's there to do - Rodri hacks down Ismaily as he runs at the heart of the City defence, and into the book he goes.

That's Tottenham and Manchester City who have scored with their first shot on target of the night. Clinical.

It went into Gabriel Jesus and rather than shooting he played a little ball to the edge of the area. The goal opened up for Gundogan on his left foot, it ricochets off the post and Mahrez reacted first to see the ball home.

    City lead!

Great awareness from Gabriel Jesus to lay the ball off to Ilkay Gundogan when he could have shot, Gundogan curls a left-footer against the post, it pops out and Riyad Mahrez is there to thump the loose ball into the roof of the net.

There's a VAR check but the Algerian was clearly onside.

  12. CLOSE!published at 22 mins

    Shakhtar Donetsk 0-0 Manchester City

A quarter of the way through the game and we haven't had a shot on target yet. That's close though, Gabi Jesus moves inside the defender to get a shot off but it's deflected wide.

Chance on the turnover, Rodri sends Raheem Sterling away down the left, he stands up a cross which is asking for Kevin de Bruyne to head home - but Mykola Matviyenko gets back to head away.

Good run again from Taison, the Shakhtar captain, but he's effectively funnelled into traffic out wide. Good spell from the hosts.

    Dave Payn: Courtois, pourquoi?

Dennis Ethan: How's Courtois starting for Real Madrid though. Poor goalkeeping!

Aswin Krishna: Seriously though. Why would you sell Navas and keep Courtois who gets beat on his near post or nutmegged so often?

Pick that one out! Angel di Maria, once of Real Madrid of course, toe-pokes past Thibaut Courtois at his near post, and PSG have the lead.

Just before that Gareth Bale wasted a good crossing opportunity on the right wing.
