Better from Shakhtar, who keep the ball well for a long period. Kyle Walker has to fly into a tackle again to beat Ismaily and Oleksandr Zinchenko then has to head clear.

    Marlos takes aim - wide!

Kevin de Bruyne's been released to go and join Gabriel Jesus for the high press. He's almost playing as a second striker.

Kyle Walker is limping after making that challenge. Any more injuries at the back and Micah Richards may get a call-up from our comms box.

I think Walker is going to be OK.

Still all City. Kevin de Bruyne puts in another good free-kick from deep on the right, Andriy Pyatov has to make a good save but the referee had actually already given the hosts a foul.

Kyle Walker then has to do well to stop Marlos from getting in behind.

Confusingly, for me anyway, Real are playing in deep blue and PSG are playing in white. No chances as of yet.

It was a free header, it actually hits the side of his head. But it was brilliant from the first whistle by Raheem Sterling, setting the tone and winning the free-kick.

Typically dominant start from City, who have Fernandinho at centre-back remember. Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez link up on the right of the box and Gabriel Jesus is close to meeting it in the middle.

A good chance for City inside the first minute! Kevin de Bruyne's free-kick is excellent as ever and Rodri heads it wide. Took his eye off the ball.

I think Ilkay Gundogan is under-rated. He works hard, can find a pass and has got that late run into the box.

City always do things the hard way. They could have spent £75m on Maguire, or £80m on Van Dijk - whatever it was. But at the time the manager didn't feel it was necessary. They've got players like Garcia who can step up and it's giving an opportunity to young players. When you lose a leader like Vincent Kompany, that sort of player and presence, obviously it's going to affect the way the backline is run.

Paris St-Germain are unbeaten in 21 successive Champions League home games at Parc des Princes in the Group Stages (W15 D6), not losing there in a Group Stage game since December 2004 versus CSKA Moscow (1-3).

Son has gradually become Tottenham's most valuable player at the moment. Without him in the team they just don't have the same quality, sharpness and ability to score.

Harry Kane's a great player because he scores goals but Son brings a bit more. He can take on players, he links play well and he's devastating. When he plays, Spurs are a better side.

    Olympiakos 2-2 Tottenham

Harry Kane on BT Sport: "We put ourselves in a great position, after that we controlled the game but conceding a goal before half time changed the momentum.

"In the second half, it was 50/50, we could have done better on the ball but a point away from home.

"Last season we didn't start too well and had to play catch up, this is only the first game and we are definitely backing ourselves to go through."

Tottenham don't look quite there yet. With the changes tonight, they had a lot of players on the pitch that probably weren't quite up to speed. It was Dele Alli's first game for a while, Tanguy Ndombele didn't quite look at it and Ben Davies hasn't played that much football - and it showed.

  20. 'Champions League the end goal for City'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 18 September 2019

Shakhtar Donetsk v Man City (20:00 BST)

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Man City defender on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Pep Guardiola has a big desire to win the Champions League with City, and I think that's the same with the players too. The model that City have created in terms of the success they've had and how they've tried to go about it, being champions of Europe is something they have a strong desire for.

Don't get me wrong, they'll take a Premier League title every year for the rest of time, but the Champions League is really the end goal for them, it'd the pinnacle.

As much as the fans have had their issues [with Uefa], if they had a semi-final or a final to go to, I'm pretty sure they'd all be there for the team.
