Koba Fern: It's morning here In Dunedin and I'm going to be late for work. Liverpool aren't playing sloppy, they're playing lounge football because they can.

Jon Rundle: Missing Wijnaldum tonight, stick him on instead of mo or mane, put ox further up. Little bit loose at the back Liverpool.
HT: Slavia Prague 0-1 Barcelona
Barcelona have had more of the possession in the Czech Republic. Standard.
But Slavia have actually had twice as many shots - 10 to 5, with 5 on target compared to 4 for Barca.
FT: Ajax 0-1 Chelsea
Chelsea
Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta: "They put us under a lot of pressure but we created a lot of chances to win the game. We were brave and I'm really happy we got a late goal.
"We are a team that always works hard together. We know only 11 can start and three can come on. The substitutions did well today, Michy got the goal, Christian (Pulisic) got the assist, we are a group.
"We knew that Ajax are a team with a lot of energy, very dynamic, lots of rotation in midfield and they have a lot of dangerous attacking players. We struggled early on to keep the pressure off even though we had a couple of chances but then we got better. The wingers and midfielders did a great job, it was really important to play with great intensity."
FT: Ajax 0-1 Chelsea
Chelsea
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard: "The great thing about the strikers I've got, even though Tammy (Abraham) has been scoring, the other two have been working hard. Michy has waited for his moment and he fully deserves his moment.
"You try and give players information, you don't want to overload them, but you've got to give them information against a team like Ajax. Our end product has got to be better on nights like tonight, the scoreline could have been more. These young players want to take on information and the older players are great examples, look at Jorginho tonight, he was phenomenal.
"We haven't had many VAR breaks this season so maybe we were due one. For the great team that they are they didn't have Kepa under too much pressure.
"I'm already thinking about Burnley. I said to the players to win five games in a row is great but it's dangerous because you can get lax but to win six games in a row is even more dangerous."
Reaction from Ajax anyone?

Must be exciting for the neutrals but Liverpool need to remember how Salzburg rallied last time. Tighten up at the back please!

It's not been good enough from Liverpool so far. They started really brightly. Genk have been unfortunate to not score a couple of goals.
On reflection do Liverpool deserve to be going in 1-0 up? Possibly. Jurgen Klopp will be having words with them, he'll want more.
They've been far too open. With the start they had they should be dominating this Genk side, it was almost over-confidence.

Tony K: Having cut my live football teeth at games at the Old Show Ground with a Scunthorpe team that regularly had to apply for re-election to the league, believe me Botham was above his level.

Haaland is going to cost someone an awful lot of money soon...
Fabinho hits a looping volley which is straight at the Genk keeper.
In Liverpool's group teenage wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland has pulled RB Salzburg level against Napoli from the penalty spot.
Haaland is the second player to score five goals in his first three Champions League appearances - after Didier Drogba for Marseille in 2003-04.
Jurgen Klopp's side are back at the top of Group E.

Blurds: VAR needs a time limit for close offsides. If it takes longer than 45 seconds to judge if it's offside or not with video assistance then logic says it's near impossible to give the right decision in real time and the lino's decision should be respected.

This is the problem with offside. It's so late. It's so wrong in the way that it's done.
I thought it was offside straight away but the play just carries on and carries on and then the linesman puts his flag up. It's infuriating.

Daniel Brown: Hard to see how Liverpool's defence can look this shaky when they boast the world's best centre-back in their squad. but to be fair, even Dejan Lovren can have an off evening I suppose.

A great ball in almost finds Ally Mbwana Samatta in the goalmouth, he is a proper handful. The winger did look offside that time and indeed the flag was raised belatedly.
Who'd be a linesman?
