I know Manchester City aren't exactly short of attacking options but seeing Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling in flight together is pretty exciting...

  2. 'How many can they get?'published at 20:42 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    England 5-1 Kosovo

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England showed great character to turn it around after conceding the early goal.

Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling have been outstanding. There is not a lot between the two sides in midfield.

They are on for a convincing win, how many can they get?

Give Kosovo credit, they want to play on the front foot and match teams up but they do not have a Sancho or Sterling. They have not got their tactics right on them, do they double up or sit back?

They don't have a clue against Sterling, who has driven the defence back into their own box.

Sterling is learning from a great coach and wonderful players at Manchester City and has awareness now. His pace gets him away from defenders and he is so positive with the ball.

I would like to see Gareth Southgate have just two midfielders on now. It would be a nice time to put James Maddison and Mason Mount on, taking off Jordan Henderson and Ross Barkley.

    Rep of Ireland 0-0 Bulgaria

    John Haughey

I nearly nodded off before that Ronan Curtis cross almost deceived 37-year-old Bulgarian debutant keeper Hristo Ivanov in the final seconds of the first half.

It's not been one to live long in the memory. In fact, I can barely recall the couple of early headed half-chances for the visitors. Maybe I imagined them?

Surely it can only get better in the second half. But with this a second-string Republic outfit facing a nation that hasn't qualified for a major tournament since Euro 2004, I'm not betting on an improvement.

Antoine Griezmann has missed his second penalty of the week for France. After hitting the crossbar against Albania, he has now had one saved by goalkeeper Josep Gomes.

France only lead 1-0 at half-time against their mountainous neighbours.

    England 5-1 Kosovo

    Phil McNulty

England are rampant going forward - but you have to single out Raheem Sterling. He has created three goals and scored one. He has been on another level - who knows who many England will get?

Kosovo started well but have been taken apart.

Raheem Sterling is having some night. Again he beats his man, gets a shot away and this time it's a comfortable enough save.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Bulgaria

The half-time whistle goes in Dublin. No big chances for the Republic of Ireland, with Ronan Curtis' cross-shot parried away right at the end of the half as good as it got.

    England 5-1 Kosovo

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

What was the right-back doing diving in on Raheem Sterling?

The cross was mis-kicked but Jadon Sancho stayed onside and he scored from close range.

    Go get a hat-trick now.

    Jadon Sancho

    And another!

Jadon Sancho has his second England goal in a matter of minutes but again, it's all about Raheem Sterling. He beats his man with ease yet again, drives into the area and squares it for Sancho, who nearly makes a mess of a tap-in but just about scuffs it over the line.

He was just about onside too...

    England 4-1 Kosovo

    Chris Waddle

Kosovo lost the ball in midfield and then England broke - they are away.

It was a calm finish from Jadon Sancho and it is game over.

    Jadon Sancho

Kosovo have been reading the Scotland manual on how to defend a counter-attack at international level.

One pass sends Raheem Sterling into space down the left, it's three on three, Sterling skins his man to sprint to the edge of the area and find Jadon Sancho on the right of the area, the Dortmund teenager takes one touch and then blasts in at the near post.

It's his first England goal. Of many - we can only assume...

Portugal could drop out of the Euro 2020 qualifying places today. Aleksandar Mitrovic has just given Serbia a 1-0 lead against Luxembourg, that would take them above Portugal into second place.

Harrison Short: Surely Leicester should have the national stadium. Geographically it's about as central as you can get

    England 3-1 Kosovo

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England did right, there was no foul and there is nothing wrong with him now.

Give Jadon Sancho credit, he was driving at the full-back and it was a great ball across.

They nodded off and the defender could do nothing about it.

    Mergim Vojvoda (OG)

England score, and it's a real horror show for Mergim Vojvoda at the back post. Kosovo are fuming as they have a man down in the build-up but there didn't seem much in the challenge. Jadon Sancho attacks, puts in a low cross across the face of goal and Vojvoda can't sort his feet out and turns it over the line from close range.
