It is still a young side but they've gone with players with a bit more experience.

The key for England is it is not about when England are playing these teams they should be far better, it was the tempo the other night.

For some reason they went 1-0 up and then retreated to the halfway line and let Czech Republic play. England don't normally do that.

  5. CLOSE!published at 19:10 British Summer Time 14 October 2019

    Czech Republic 0-3 Northern Ireland

The Czechs find space in behind again.

Jan Boril has time on the left-edge, but his thumping shot is blocked by Conor McLaughlin.

We're not used to seeing this in friendlies - the Czechs have been poor but you can't take it away from NI. The work rate has been unbelievable. They want to play out from the back, but we've been putting them under pressure throughout the first period. The midfield have been fantastic, too. Apart from one chance early on, they've barely threatened Northern Ireland.

Another British man suffered a minor injury in a separate incident, the FCO spokesperson said.

The FA said it would not be commenting until the full circumstances of both incidents were clarified.

What a half from Michael O'Neill's men.

The Green and White Army are in dreamland.

    John O'Neill
    Former Northern Ireland defender

    Quote Message

It was two great passes out of defence and he's run maybe 20 or 30 yards. McNair's outstripped the defence, rounds the keeper and slots it into the empty net. It was good work by Stuart Dallas to win the ball in the first place. I've been particularly impressed by Jordan Thompson in midfield. He's an all-action midfielder. It's been a great first half, really enjoyable, and especially given how many poor friendlies we've endured over the years.

    Paddy McNair (40 mins)

    Paddy McMessi.

A defence-splitting pass and Paddy McNair is onto it in a flash.

He outpaces Josef Husbauer, advances in on Jiri Pavlenka before coolly going round the goalkeeping and slotting home a finish into the open net.

Delightful goal and Northern Ireland in total control.

  17. Southgate rings the changespublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 14 October 2019

    Bulgaria v England (19:45 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Sofia

England manager Gareth Southgate, as expected, rings the changes and it means a debut for Aston Villa central defender Tyrone Mings in place of struggling Michael Keane.

Ben Chilwell is in for suspended Danny Rose at left-back but Kieran Trippier survives on the other flank ahead of Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold. Few eyebrows raised at that one - understandably so.

Bulgaria XI: Illiev, Zanev, Hadzhiev, Terziev, Pashov, Wanderson, Kostadinov, Despodov, Sarmov, Popov, Isa

England XI: Pickford, Trippier, Mings, Maguire, Chilwell, Winks, Henderson, Barkley, Sterling, Kane, Rashford.

  20. 'NI playing at a surprising pace'published at 18:28 British Summer Time 14 October 2019

    Czech Republic 0-2 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
    Former Northern Ireland defender

    Quote Message

It's untrue how comfortable Northern Ireland are all over the pitch. They're playing at a surprising pace and making it very difficult for the Czechs. NI are pressing them very high up the pitch. We would be three up had it not been for their goalkeeper. Michael O'Neill's formation is giving them all sorts of problems - they're not getting anywhere near our back-line.
