    England

England boss Gareth Southgate, speaking to ITV: “I’m totally aware of where we are so I don’t need any reality checks.

"Maybe there’s been a perception around us – of course we’ve won some qualifiers by big scores and have had some good performances but I know that we are not perfect and the areas that are obvious that we need to improve on have been there for a while.

"It’s clear we have got to defend better as a team, certainly from June up to now we’ve conceded too many goals, too many errors.”

  11. 'Mings has learned a lot from Terry'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 14 October 2019

    Bulgaria v England (19:45 BST)

    Stephen Warnock
Ex-Liverpool defender on Radio 5 Live

I think Tyrone Mings has learned a lot from John Terry at Aston Villa. Whether it is sitting down and going through videos of things he has done I don't know. But we know he likes to come out with the ball. He has a great arrogance about him on the ball which I think suits his ability. He knows he is a good player and that is showing in his performances.

Mings could be the player that gels so well with Maguire, lets the full-backs go forward and that could be the ideal situation.

A Czech Republic leveller is coming.

Jonny Evans' headed clearance is poor and falls to the left boot of Patrik Schick, but the on-loan RB Leipzig striker volleys way over.

A change up in defence by Gareth Southgate as Tyrone Mings makes his full debut for England. He starts alongside Harry Maguire with Kieran Trippier and Ben Chilwell in the full-back positions.

Harry Winks also starts in midfield, replacing Mason Mount, while Marcus Rashford is in for Jadon Sancho in the front three.

Bulgaria have made six changes from Friday’s draw in Montenegro. Like England, they also hand a defender a debut as 28-year-old Kamen Hadzhiev starts.

Bulgaria XI: Illiev, Zanev, Hadzhiev, Terziev, Pashov, Wanderson, Kostadinov, Despodov, Sarmov, Popov, Isa

England XI: Pickford, Trippier, Mings, Maguire, Chilwell, Winks, Henderson, Barkley, Sterling, Kane, Rashford.

  14. 'We don't have that creative player'published at 19:30 British Summer Time 14 October 2019

    Bulgaria v England (19:45 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The front three takes care of itself. I don't worry about them, they will score goals and create chances. The problem is we don't have that midfield player - I know Mason Mount didn't play well the other night but we can't judge him on one game - we are lacking that creative player who makes things happen. We have not had anyone who can do that.

We need a reaction from the Northern Ireland team because they are definitely in a game now. This is the most competitive friendly I've seen in a long, long time. I think Liam Boyce has struggled a bit, he doesn't have the height to impose himself on the Czech Republic defenders but it will be a different story with Josh Magennis.

GOAL - Czech Republic 2-3 Northern Irelandpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 14 October 2019

    Alex Kral (69 mins)

Two goals in two minutes and suddenly NI are in trouble.

Brilliant from Alex Kral, beating two, three Northern Ireland players with a drive into the box then keeping his composure to thump a finish into the net.

Michael McGovern had no chance with this one, Northern Ireland have 20 minutes to hold on.

    Vladimir Darida (68 mins)

    Back in it.

A lovely goal to get back into the game. Jan Kopic's low cross is controlled by Zdenek Ondrasek in the box.

With his back to goal, he lays it off for Vladimir Darida to side-foot a finish to the roof of the net.

Michael McGovern gets a hand on it, he should do better.
