Paul: Ireland won't qualify. At least not automatically. Big game for them and one or two of their players are busy trying silly flicks and losing the ball. They've got no quality whatsoever. Denmark will score at some point.

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Denmark

No clear chances for either side so far, but considering there have only been 10 goals in seven Republic of Ireland qualifiers, you didn't expect anything else did you?

Spain are ahead against Romania through Fabian Ruiz - a deserved lead after a hugely dominant start by the hosts.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth forward Joshua King has put Norway 1-0 up at Malta in what is a dead rubber in Group F. The Norwegians are already confirmed in the play-offs

  5. Uruguay take the leadpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2019

    Argentina 0-1 Uruguay

Uruguay have taken the lead in Tel Aviv and it's Edinson Cavani who gets the breakthrough.

The PSG man gets the finishing touch after a flowing Uruguay attack.

    How will Argentina respond?

A word of warning for Irish fans happy to see the back of Thomas Delaney. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored Denmark's goal in Copenhagen against the Republic moments after coming off the bench.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14 mins

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Denmark

An early enforced change for the visitors as Southampton's Pierre-Emile Hojberg comes on to replace Thomas Delaney, who could not recover from that ankle injury.

  8. The Swiss leadpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2019

    Gibraltar 0-1 Switzerland

Elsewhere in Group D, Switzerland have taken the lead thanks to a goal from Cedric Itten away at Gibraltar. That could well be a goal that takes the Swiss to Euro 2020.

If the result stays this way, then this match in Dublin is now definitely a winner-takes-all clash. That Switzerland goal actually makes the Irish task easier. Before they needed a 2-0 win to guarantee qualification, now a 1-0 will do.

  9. Two in two minutes for Italypublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2019

    Italy 2-0 Armenia

Two goals in two minutes for Italy and it is game over!

First, the in-form Ciro Immobile bagged his 18th goal in 18 games this season with a header at the far post before Roma youngster Nicolo Zaniolo slid in his first international goal soon after.

It's been a decent start for the Irish, albeit no chances yet. The early Denmark error which almost led to a corner gave the home fans something to shout about immediately.

David McGoldrick has shown a couple of nice touches early on but the Republic will have to make sure he's not totally isolated today.

Mick McCarthy has been bellowing out instructions to his defenders.

Denmark midfielder Thomas Delaney needs some treatment after going over on his ankle under pressure from Glenn Whelan.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is a key man for the Danes, but is struggling to put weight on his ankle so it could be an early change needed for the visitors.

    Argentina 0-0 Uruguay

Lionel Messi has just ridden the challenge of four Uruguayan defenders in typical Messi fashion.

The Argentine talisman falls to the floor but still manages to retain possession before rolling the defender and passing the ball wide. Breathtaking.

Still 0-0 with over half an hour gone in that one.

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Denmark

The crowd will certainly have a part to play and the noise levels are cranked up as David McGoldrick looks to chase on to a ball forward, but he can't get there and Kasper Schmeichel calmly clears the danger.

  14. Flying start from Spainpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2019

    Spain 0-0 Romania

Spain may have already qualified for next year's tournament but they are not taking it easy based on their dominance in the opening five minutes.

Saul Niguez has just had the ball in the back of the net after heading home a cross but it was ruled out, perhaps a bit harshly, for a foul.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

Denmark get us going. Some early panic for the visitors as Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel, whose father Peter was their captain when they won the European Championship in 1992, has to launch the ball into touch, but the Republic can't do anything with the throw-in.

  20. 'Legacy-defining week'published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2019

Republic of Ireland v Denmark (19:45 GMT)

    Emlyn Begley
BBC Sport at the Aviva Stadium

Irish boss Mick McCarthy said a few days ago he "hoped this is a legacy-defining week... in a positive way".

One of only four managers to ever take the Republic to a major tournament, he could become the second (after Jack Charlton) to take them to more than one if the Irish win today.

In his usual bullish style, he said: "Always there's a big performance in us that can win a game. If I don't believe it, I might as well go home.

"And I’m not going home anytime soon.”

Although that is not strictly true, he is being replaced by Under-21 boss Stephen Kenny after Euro 2020.
