In a sitdown with BBC Scotland this week, Hearts owner Ann Budge backed Craig Levein as both manager and director of football following recent criticism from some fans.

Budge said: "There's a pile of supporters who don't agree with me on this, but I think he's done a really good job in terms of what I asked him do.

"Now he's doing the manager's job, but in terms of everything else that he's built, we have an infrastructure on the football side that I think is second to none. That is really good for moving forward."

Speaking to Rangers TV after his team's victory in Paisley, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard savoured the quality of Borna Barisic's winning strike.

Gerrard said: “I thought it was an outstanding set-piece. The technique and quality. I’ve seen it in training quite a few times and it’s very nice to see it in a game to get his team-mates three important points.

“The players in the main were very good. We faced the challenge, we tried to probe and tried to make things happen.

“I would have liked a little bit more quality in the final third but if you can’t do it in general play you need people to step up and produce magic and that’s what Borna did.

“I’m delighted with three points. It’s three wins from three, and it sets us up for a big week."

Celtic manager Neil Lennon on his reasons for giving goalkeeper Fraser Forster a debut today in place of Craig Gordon.

He tells BBC Sportsound: "We have to bear in mind Fraser’s not registered for the Europa League so if Craig were to play and get injured then we’d have nobody. So that’s in our thinking as well. Get Fraser up to speed and let Craig play Thursday night.

"It gives me three superb goalkeepers and that’s a great potion to be in. Goalkeepers are a very important position and we’ve bolstered that."

Hearts manager Craig Levein tells BBC Sportsound: "What am I expecting from Celtic? Pretty much what they did on Thursday. Obviously their two league games have gone very well and we’re well aware of the threats that they have going forward.

"We’ll need to defend well today. We have to stand up to them, be brave, play high and compete.

"And the last couple of times we’ve faced them we’ve played well, we just haven’t managed to take anything form either match. So see if we can go one step forwards and get some points today."

St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin on his side's penalty claim: "I thought at the time Helander slipped and brought down Obika but I haven't had the time to see it back.

"I'm frustrated. It took a moment of brilliance for Rangers to eventually break us down. I felt the longer the game went on it was going to be a free-kick or penalty that was going to win it, because our back four and the midfield two in front of them were excellent.

"We allowed them to go out wide and put crosses in the box, so the game-plan was working perfectly."

Hearts manager Craig Levein tells BBC Sportsound: "I'm glad Glenn's available for today and not concerned how long he will last.

"He might make the 90 minutes. He's a fit boy anyway and been training with us for a couple of weeks now. He had 90 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday. He's an experienced player, he'll know how himself when his legs have gone."
