  2. 'Exactly what we needed'published at 22:00 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    FT: Scotland 8-0 Cyprus

Kim Little is always understated and humble and nothing changes after five goals.

"It's important that we are professional against the sides ranked lower than us and we manage the game well," she tells BBC Sportsound.

"We spoke about being calm and patient. It was a very strong performance.

"We came here to get three points and that's what we did. It's exactly what we needed."

Scotland were dominant throughout the whole match, start to finish. Massive credit to Scotland as they kept going as it can be difficult when you've won the game, you're five or six nil up but they actually scored in the last few minutes of the game. That shows the hunger and desire of this current squad to be the best they can be.

  5. Cypriots 'couldn't live with Little'published at 21:54 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    Julie Fleeting
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

She was absolutely tremendous tonight. The Cypriots couldn't live with her movement off the ball, the fact she was continuously going beyond the striker and making runs. That was evident in the five goals that she scored.

  6. What's next for Scots?published at 21:44 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    FT: Scotland 8-0 Cyprus

Next up for Scotland in their bid to qualify for back-to-back major finals is away to Albania on 8 November.

The Scots last trip there went pretty well - they beat them 2-1 to qualify for the World Cup. Let's hope for more of the same.

After that Scotland will have to wait until 2020 for return fixtures against Cyprus and Albania, before taking on Finland and Portugal over two legs.

  7. 'Perfect night' for Scotlandpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    FT: Scotland 8-0 Cyprus

Hearts girls and women's academy manager on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

It's the perfect night for Shelley and the team. The word 'professional' is probably what I'd use. Scotland were obviously the far better team but I thought they were relentless for the entire game, creating chances throughout. Even the players coming off the bench could actually make an impact which is great for Shelley and should give her food for thought for the next one.

  8. Job donepublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    FT: Scotland 8-0 Cyprus

Well that was an impressive start to Scotland's Euro 2021 opener, with outstanding performances from some of the players - especially five-goal Kim Little.

The Scots were relentless with their attacking play providing head coach Shelley Kerr plenty of positives to chew over.

To be fair to Cyprus this is the beginning of qualifying journey, but they proved no match for the dominant Scots tonight.

  9. FULL-TIME Scotland 8-0 Cypruspublished at 90+2 mins

That's how to get a qualification campaign started... Kim Little was the star of the show with an incredible five goals.

Claire Emslie, Jane Ross and Caroline Weir also got in on the scoring in a very one-sided contest.

Harder tasks lie in wait but you can only beat what's in front of you.

It definitely is an 8-0 game, we could have been in double figures here with the chances we've created. It's not that {Cyprus} don't deserve to lose 8-0, it's the Scotland have well deserved it tonight.

    Caroline Weir

A classic Caroline Weir run right up the middle, she lays it off to Zoe Ness, who sets up the return pass nicely for the Manchester City player to lash it into the net from 18 yards.

I'm not sure Little can believe it herself. A great late run into the box and this time it's a neat glancing header beyond forlorn goalkeeper Eleni Ttakka.

This the first time Kim Little has scored four goals in a game for Scotland.

She had previously netted three hat-tricks; against Israel, Netherlands and Slovenia.

  15. GOAL Scotland 6-0 Cypruspublished at 83 mins

    Kim Little

Kim Little has been on fire tonight. Play starts with captain Rachel Corsie at the back and she delivers the ball up to Zoe Ness. Great control from the substitute in midfield and a lovely threaded pass in behind, but what a finish from Little, her fourth of the night, right through goalkeeper Eleni Ttakka's legs.

  16. Clean sheet on the cards for Alexanderpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    Scotland 6-0 Cyprus

Glasgow City shot-stopper Lee Alexander hasn't had too much involvement tonight. This the first corner of the night for Cyprus. Nothing to worry about though, as she sends it clear with a double-fisted punch.

  17. Arnot 'always gives her all'published at 21:13 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

We'll see Lisa Evans come to right-back now and that will allow Lizzie Arnot take up the right wing position. (Arnot) is fiery, she's desperate to get at players and get involved in the attack. She's an exciting player and always gives her all.

  18. A familiar face for City playerspublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 30 August 2019

    Scotland 5-0 Cyprus

Cyprus defender Victoria Zampa comes on for Antria Michail.

The Glasgow City element of this Scotland team have met some of the Cypriot players before, including Zampa, when they faced Somatio Barcelona in the round of 32 of the Champions League last September.

The Scottish champions beat them 2-1 on aggregate and went on to play, and lose to, the Spanish FC Barcelona.

A chance for Scotland to add to the score sheet perhaps, as proven scorer Lizzie Arnot takes to the field for Kirsty Smith. The Manchester United forward a creative player and proof Shelley Kerr is not in the mood to ease up.
